There was no fresh coriander and only a small strip of cucumber with a lot of carrot. I was disappointed as my previous visit to the original store was much better.
Not sure why such a good food venue keeps on getting food safety fines but please consider taking up food handling course and stick to the rules. Don't touch food with your hands! Great food but please do not touch food ingredients with your hands, even if gloves are worn. This is because often, mostly due to accidents, these same gloves also handle other non food related tasks. This is how food related germs are spread to food and end up making customers ill. Use thongs instead. This will not only stop diseases from spreading but it will also make your business look better. It is so awful looking inside your shop to see your staff touching food ingredients with your hands. Change this practice. Good luck!
Had rolls at both Pitt St and Darling Square. Almost no meat on roll from Pitt St. Darling Square better but very over priced compared with fantastic rolls we get in Richmond, Springvale etc in Victoria Really don’t know what the fuss is about. Maybe we were unlucky on 2 different days.
Shop is super tiny but the Bahn Mi’s are packed with flavour and bursting at the seams. Yes it is as good as they say it is! Parking in the area is difficult but we used the woollies car park. There is also nowhere at all to sit, so eat on the run or find a bus seat-it’s all worth it. The pate is so flavoursome that you can taste it among all the other ingredients which is hard to do. And at $6 this is one of the cheapest and most filling lunches you can get that is so super fresh. Lots of Vietnamese shops close by so you can pick up all your Vietnamese goods whilst you’re in the area. There’s lots of options but we always go with traditional pork roll, chilli and extra pate-you won’t be disappointed! Sorry no pics, too busy eating ;
I have been in the ever ending search for the best Bahn Mi in Sydney. From Kingsford to Cabramatta, I’ve tried them all and my favorite was always at Empress Bread in Kingsford. No matter where I went, nowhere came close. Today I sent my kid to a school camp at Marrickville west primary school and went to try the famous Marrickville Pork Roll. I don’t care what anyone says, hands down the best. I had half bbq pork and crispy pork belly. I saw the lady being conservative with the chili, sauce and pate and I thought I was in for an average one. But when I bit into it my life just stopped. Crispy bread, full flavored pork, pickled vegetables, chili, pate and sauce all had distinctive flavours both bold and satisfying. I was in Bahn Mi heaven. I’m going back tomorrow and every day my kids camp is there. I don’t care about people’s comments on service, it’s not a 5 star hotel, it’s a pork roll shop, and after going to over 50 places, I am so glad I found this shop. I’ve been a chef for over 25 years, worked in south east Asia and been to Vietnam on numerous occasions. This is the real deal. Sorry no pic, once I took my first bite, there was nothing more important than devouring this baby.
