I was disappointed with the food I ordered. The biryani—be it vegetarian, chicken, or lamb—tasted more like plain pulao, just colored rice mixed with vegetables. Both the chicken and lamb options lacked any authentic biryani flavor. The palak chaat was drenched in oil and lacked the necessary tamarind sauce or any flavors that would make it a true chaat (I would rate this dish a 0). On a positive note, the coconut naan was a great choice; I enjoyed its flavors and would recommend trying it. I chose this new restaurant based on the enticing photos and reviews, but they don't accurately represent the dishes. Those familiar with Indian cuisine will understand my frustration. I'm just sharing my experience, but I suggest being cautious when ordering, as it feels like a lot of money for very little value.
Instead of a refund, I was offered to have the $5.99 cost of my samosas deducted from my still-unfulfilled order. I insisted on a full refund. I remained calm and polite throughout the conversation, yet their attitude suggested that I was somehow at fault. I inquired why no one had apologized or expressed any regret, and Adrian simply informed me that he was processing my refund. When I pressed again about the initial 15-20 minute estimate, he gave a vague answer about the buffet situation. In the end, I received a refund and asked about the tip I had given. Adrian mentioned it wouldn't be processed until the end of the night, which I hope is accurate. As a business, if you anticipate being busy, communication is key for takeout orders. Additionally, the staff's customer service skills need improvement. It seemed as though my food wasn’t started until I arrived. I’m really disheartened by this experience and hope for better in the future.
The food was good, and the service was decent, but halfway through my meal, an intense smell of spray paint filled the restaurant. It was strong enough that I felt the need to ask the waitress if we should be worried. She mentioned it was just someone painting in the kitchen. I can't believe that’s safe or sanitary during dinner service. Thankfully, the smell eventually went away, but I’m just glad I got my food before the kitchen turned into an art project.
I also sampled their samosas, which were quite tasty. Normally, I’m not a fan of chutney and seldom use it, but I really enjoyed the flavors of theirs—it enhanced the samosas even more. As for authenticity, I noticed mostly white patrons there, but considering this is West Virginia, I’m not sure how large the Indian community is, so don’t completely discount it based on that!
