Awesome gathering place, good food and lots of variety In entertainment
I?d been to Southland Books Cafe many times but hadn?t had the chance to visit the adjacent restaurant until the Murvul Punk Drag Flea Market. This was a FANTASTIC event! Everyone who worked here was wonderfully welcoming and friendly. I had to holdup a written note asking about gf options bc the music was so loud. They don?t have a gf menu but they scrambled to help mefigure something out despite the extreme busyness and everything else going on. I ended up getting a delicious wrap without thewrap which was basically a scoop of chicken salad over vegetables with chips. Normally this kind of compromise would be one ofthose kinda depressing but par for the course deals that happens with food allergies but it was the BEST chicken salad I?ve everhad! Zero disappointment. I don?t usually like chicken salad but this was amazing. I very much appreciated that no one seemedconfused or put off by the request even though we were communicating by screaming and note passing. The event itself featured aton of local vendors, bands, and drag performers. The energy was great! I hope they host more events like this in the future. I will absolutely be there. I?ll need to check the restaurant out sometime when there isn?t a huge concert happening. As withthe bookstore, the vibes here were immaculate. I?m sure it will be just as delightful on a quiet evening.
This is a meeting location for local artists, writers, book lovers, intellectuals, and retired academics. It is part of a new and used bookstore complex of connected old buildings. The food is good and eclectic. Vegetarian focus.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was very cozy.
