The seaview dining strip is prime real estate, and often characterised by full tables and long queues. To skirt this problem, we visited Too Fat Buns for a spot of lunch, as it's tucked away from the main road. It's got a fun vibe, but there's not much of a dining area so I would definitely recommend that you take away your order. In terms of the grub, the burgers are fairly solid, if somewhat pricey for what you get. I added blue cheese to my vege burger and it was a welcome addition. The aioli that comes with the chips is punchy, just as an aioli should be, and the shake a brain freezingly good whack of thick chocolatey goodness. Come for comfort food, leave with a full belly.
Too Fat Buns. For starters love the name. I indulged myself into what was called the 'man bun. ' Although it was quite tasty I still think the burger was a bit overpriced. The burger was cooked well but it was not as satisfying as I was hoping after a long day of drinking wines around Waiheke island. Would go here again and give this place a second try though!
Awesome burgers! I love how fresh everything looked and tasted. It will take 10-15 minutes before you get a hand of your order, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Cute place with friendly staff!
Great food. I order the small burger and a side of fries, and I'm always very full.Always greeted with smiles, and everything tastes fresh. I usually order through their phoning option, and they're very prompt at completing my order. Hot Chicky Bun is my favourite.
Chicken burger was good, beef burger was under cooked and raw in middle. Chicken wings were under cooked, had feathers still on, were a bit slimy instead of crispy and sauce was average. Overall okay, but would only go back in a bind.
