This charming family-run Thai restaurant offers delightful flavors from Northern Thailand. We tried a variety of dishes, including both vegan and vegetarian options, all of which were delicious. We’ll definitely be returning! Vegetarian options: Vegan options available. Dietary restrictions: Vegan-friendly.
We had a great experience with the Thai dishes at this restaurant. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. While the interior is cozy and small, they also provide outdoor seating. Parking can be a bit tricky due to the limited lot, but it is free.
The food is absolutely delicious! Although it takes a bit of time for the dishes to arrive, it's definitely worth the wait. The restaurant is clean, and the customer service is excellent. This is the best Thai food I've experienced in the DMV area! I ordered the pad Thai with chicken and the salmon panang—both were scrumptious!
When I arrived, I noticed that the four parking spots in front were too small, even for compact cars. There were several handwritten signs on the entry door and inside the tiny space, such as "baby sleeping," "no cell phones or conversations, please," and another asking for "patience due to staff shortage." The only patrons I saw were a couple sitting outside at a small, empty table (no menus, food, or drinks) and three customers whispering over their meals in a cramped corner near the entrance, next to a room divider that concealed a crib with a small child near the kitchen. After a few minutes, I peeked into the kitchen to see if there was any staff around or signs of my to-go order. A young man soon emerged with a bag containing my food. I paid and left with the neatly organized paper bag. The food was well-prepared and packaged, but the taste and quality were just adequate. Reflecting on my experience, I felt compassion and appreciation for the operator, who seemed momentarily overwhelmed yet was doing his best to keep the business running. There was also a sign indicating that the restaurant would soon be relocating to the old Greek Taverna spot around the corner. I admire the tenacity in the face of adversity. Currently, I would rate my experience at three stars, but I plan to revisit Chiang Mai Thai at its new location once it's established!
