Service with drinks was pretty much instantaneous and with a smile, sone chat, and warm welcome. We both ordered a different large fry up breakfast, and both were superb, and very reasonably priced. Sausages were large and tasty, eggs well done, everything was hot and delicious. Toast was thick uncut bread with lots of butter. I had an OJ, large, which came as a pint, and was proper juice, not squash. Tea was piping hot and well made. Decor was classic greasy spoon but tidy and clean. Lots of happy faces in there enjoying good food and a natter, and the radio was on for some nice Sunday morning background music. These sort of classic English cafes done right seem to be a dying institution, which is a shame. Use them or lose them, I'll definitely be popping back soon!
Used to go to this cafe regularly with my parents growing up, visited recent with my parents for first time in few years and totally dissatisfied, burnt sausages, tight portions, rubbish service.
Cheapest nastiest sausages ever it seemed like everything was just deep fried the worst full English breakfast I have ever had
I recently tried the fish and chips at The Village Cafe and was impressed. The fish was fresh, flaky, and cooked perfectly with a great batter. Although the chips were not made from fresh potatoes and were instead chunky frozen chips, they were still tasty. I would definitely recommend trying this new dish. The cost is £8 for a medium portion and £9.40 for a large.
Nice hot food, very friendly staff, very clean cafe, varied menu, would def recommend this cafe to anyone
