Today we returned for our anniversary as we had planned that very night. This is also the only place he has badgered me to Yelp about shows his love of it, clearly! Last time we got: Chef 's selection flatbread of olives, ground beef, and feta cheese with homemade spinach pesto and red sauce. It 's like Greek pizza and kofta decided to have babies together and make the best of themselves. Get it. Also featured: a missing piece, thanks to my partner in crime. Seasonal Mac and Cheese, with shrimp! The amount of butter in this is impressive. I would 've liked the pasta more al dente and didn 't care for the over baked shrimp. You can 't see it well given the greenery, but the Pork Milanese was cooked to perfection. I wasn 't a huge fan of the sweet ish cheesy, creamy sauce, but I still ate it all. The best petit filet I 've had, and I 'm Texan. This was perfectly executed to come out a true medium rare. Melt in your mouth tender. Normally the Prime Time Hour menu 4 6pm Mon Sat) is $29 for a three course meal of Caesar salad, bread pudding, and an entry $7 upcharge for the filet), but because we were celebrating a birthday and because Jeff is amazing we were gifted this massive brick of a chocolate cake and the accompanying ice creams; it was such a kind gesture and just the cherry on top for our birthday celebration. Because of our stellar experience, we resolved to return another night when Jeff works and to sit at the table in a nook pictured) he made our dining experience so special. Well, that night was tonight! We were welcomed and even remembered by the other staff, and got to sit at the booth and saw Jeff again. This time we both got the filet with mushrooms) and substituted creamed spinach and got the mac 'n cheese again $4 per person). We also tried the blackened shrimp and Havarti flatbread... it 's so good; my boo prefers this slightly over the other, and I, the opposite, but we both love both. Same with the steak yum! Next time we 'll do at least a vegetable, though. Everyone knows creamed spinach isn 't a vegetable. Jeff made our dinner special yet again and we were so well taken care of. Love this place and how we feel leaving it each time!
After a long trip from Birmingham, a welcomed dinner at Andy Bistro was in order. We did want to let our kiddos get a little energy out before sitting for a couple of hours. And Andy 's parking lot was empty and large enough to do so since we were on the early side. Andy 's Yelp Page says they aren 't good for kids. But they are good for kids that aren 't too crazy at a restaurant. They have a kids menu and high chairs. But the environment does not feel like a place for kids that like to run around. We decided to go early enough that we can take advantage of their Prime Time Menu. I am not normally a dessert person and would shy away these type of three course meals. But the price, what I wanted and the addition of a salad made me really want to go down this path. The bread that came out was absolutely incredible. And that is before I even got the Prime Time meal that I ordered. Our kids also really liked it. Even though I personally know how hard it is as a server with two year olds, they were attentive and patient with us throughout the whole meal. Which again is why I would change their good for kids status on Yelp. The salad was fantastic and the paneed Veal was absolutely incredible. The sauce with that and the pasta made an incredible dining experience. By the time the dessert came, I was pretty full. But despite my preference to not go the sweets direction, I couldn 't resist the bread pudding. It wasn 't big, which I was thankful for. But it was absolutely delicious. The entire experience was 5 stars from the service to the food. Great visit to Andy 's Bistro.
Andy's never disappoints! Had a 16 person bday dinner with a friend. All of the food was amazing. I had one of the best steaks I've ever had...that filet!!! And the complimentary rosemary bread is to die for. I do have to say I used to LOVE their sautéed mushrooms, but I don't find them as good now. Now they seem to just be sautéed in butter and rosemary whereas in previous visits it was more like a gravy. I must add as an update to my previous reviews..,Andy's used to be my go to suggestion to anyone wanting a mid range priced dinner out. I can no longer consider it mid range as their prices have increased significantly over the years as they've gained popularity. A lot of their previous specials (like $3 martinis on Thursdays) are also gone. Their $14 lamb chop appetizer used to include three chops. Now it's $18 for two chops. Don't get me wrong, I still find Andy's to be worth what they're charging because it's that good. I just used to consider it a crazy amazing deal, and now I don't. Now I just consider it a nice dinner out with pricing along the lines of Ruth's Chris. I've attached a photo that reflects current pricing.
The food was five stars! Service left more to be desired. The table wasn 't ready as they walked us over to it. They had us wait in the lobby for a few minutes, no worries there. The host was apologetic and sincere. The table service was just awkward. My guest finished their water while we were enjoying our appetizer and her response was, Oh are you one of those people? Eeeeek. My silverware was very dirty and when the appetizer plates were removed she wanted me to keep them. Not sure where she expected me to lay them because they had beautiful placemats on the table and I didn 't want to dirty it. When the entrees arrived my water needed refilling and the person refilling it asked if there was a hole in my glass. Really? Nope. Just a lot of ice. We had the Brussel sprouts as an a appetizer and they were a bit more firm than I 've had at other places, but tasty. I had the Frenchmen burger and it was one of the best burgers I 've ever had. It was seasoned perfectly. I enjoyed a glass of Meomi Pinot noir with it. The wine pour was small, but I appreciated that it was served the right temperature and in a proper glass. This place was beautiful, the food was great, and the wine list was excellent. I 'd love to try this place again! I 'd just hope for a more professional server next time.
Wasn't planning on such an outstanding meal, a definite favorite when we go back to NOLA
