Mariachi Mexican - Metuchen

We had dined here once before, years ago, and weren't impressed. We were in downtown Metuchen looking for open restaurants. We were once again underwhelmed. We should have gotten back in the car and gone to El Tex Mex Burrito Cafe in Fords. I had theenchiladas and my wife had the chicken soup, shrimp, and sangria. All were mediocre. The service was very good, especiallyconsidering the two person overworked staff.

For the price of food, the amount of food is ridiculous. Chimichangas are like thinest 3 PCs if you are a vegetarian it is really bad. They charge extra for salsa. Food quality and flavor is mediocre. I use to go to the place all the time but afterpandemic they have become really cheap.

Tried here for the first time last weekend and was a bit disappointed. We ordered online which showed our order would be ready in an hour. When we got our food at the specified time, it was cold and soggy. My enchiladas were so mushy, the meal was a mess.I wish that we could have been notified that it was ready early. A lot of the food like the rice had a frozen/store bought feel.Honestly I thought it was way overpriced. The food did taste good though. Probably would have been a lot better fresh!

This was my first time at Mariachi, and the food was very, very good! The first course was a shrimp scampi, which was extremely flavorful and not overcooked like most places cook shrimp! I would return for this alone! I also got the trio of fajitas withthe chicken, steak and shrimp. These were also flavorful and very well cooked, as nothing was dry and tasteless. I willcertainly be back, and I recommend this place for anyone who wants good food in the area.

Actual food was as expected good but not great. It was a small restaurant and only had a few small groups there and our food took a bit to come out. There is only wine and sangria options for alcoholic drinks. I live in NY so won't be back but even if Ilived close by I would probably find a more suitable Mexican venue for what I was looking for. For those who just want a smallMexican place with decent food it's a good fit.
