It was after 10:00 PM on a Thursday, and there were children in the corner playing loud computer games at a table cluttered with papers, which clashed with the otherwise refined decor. Overall, it was not the fine dining experience we had hoped for.
This spot is very child-friendly. I have two boys and a girl, and we all love dining here. The chef occasionally takes the time to interact with my kids, which I think is incredible considering how busy he is. He talks to them about food and its history, and we appreciate that personal touch. If you aren’t fond of children and dislike seeing them when you arrive, maybe it’s best to find another restaurant. The food here is exceptional—truly some of the best around. The majority of the staff are French, while the chef is Canadian, and their culinary skills shine through. During these challenging economic times, it's important for people to be mindful of their words, especially when spreading untruths. I absolutely love this bistro, the staff, and the food—it’s simply superb!
It's disappointing to encounter a chef-owner who claims to be French but isn't. It feels a bit like a scam. This restaurant was recommended by a hotel concierge, likely for a commission. The location is in a small strip mall at a corner, which isn’t ideal. I wouldn't recommend it. The owner comes across as pretentious, and we felt misled.
We’ve been there twice. First time was food was fabulous; service slow but friendly; we went back a second time to get a specific menu item. Were seated next to the chef playing computer video games with a child; there were four tables being served at the time: virtually empty. The child proceeded to stare at us the entire time that we surveyed the menu. We asked to be moved. After 10 minutes we got water. After 20 minutes we got wine. After 30 minutes we got bread. We asked the server if it could be speeded up as we had to retrieve a child shortly. After another 10 minutes with no food we asked for the check. We paid for the wine, left a tip and departed the proprietor subsequently greeted us at the door and told us (and everyone else in the parking lot) in no uncertain terms that we were not welcomed, and to never come back-that people like us were not permitted in HIS establishment; in over thirty years of fine dining from Rome to Singapore, we've never encountered such a display. Perhaps the food is good; but with the myriad of alternatives in South Florida we can only suggest that it's merely a matter of time before you, too, are treated so rudely.
I was impressed! One of the great frustrations of eating in South Florida is consistency. There is nothing worse than going to a place and having a great experience and returning expecting the same, only to find that it is not. I have confirmed that is not the case at Bistro Bisou. I have dined their five times since July, including lunch and dinner. Everything is cooked to perfection. The ambiance is great with a very open area, including a kitchen that you can see. There you can see Chef Victor the New Chef and owner. He is very charming and knowledgeable and can always be found there. This is probably the key to the consistency. Whatever the key is keep it up because, I LOVE IT!!
