However, recently with new management, the focus has shifted more towards traditional Chinese food. On my latest visit, I was disappointed to find that the place was run down and very dirty, particularly the tables. The congee was of poor quality and overall, I no longer want to return to this establishment.
The restaurant is not very clean and has limited staff. The portion sizes are small, but the prices are reflective of this. I visited a few weeks ago and ordered zhaliang (a youtiao wrapped in rice noodles). Youtiao is a deep-fried Cantonese type of donut. I had to ask for the sauce, and the dish was satisfactory. We also tried a barley dish, which was average. The washroom was not very clean, and the overall cleanliness of the place was lacking. I would rate the experience as below average. The restaurant's title says it all; it is cheap and so-so. I would only recommend it for those looking for a simple, no-frills meal and not expecting too much.
If I ever go outside and get nice meals for Chinese dishes, I will always go to fritter king. all they do is fresh and the prices are really cheap! I'm here with my colleagues, and I can't expect me to bring my friend here to try this!
We have been going to this restaurant for breakfast since it first opened. At first, the food quality and service were excellent, and the place was clean. However, over the past few years, the food quality has declined and the cleanliness of the restaurant has worsened. It seems that there has been a high turnover of staff, and at times certain items we liked were not available. The tables also felt sticky and greasy when touched. We hope that they can improve and return to their former standard, as we will not be returning anytime soon.
It's a little restaurant located in between shops. To our surprise, they have a lot food i have long forgotten.... the fried turnip rice cakes, has the taste of the Singapore hawker stall taste. What a pleasant surprise ! Love their fritters , of course,...freshly made. the claypot rice crepe was nice too. Yummy experience.
