I thoroughly enjoyed myself the two times I was able to come in. If I am ever back in this part of Alabama, I will definitely be stopping in for some good food and a couple drinks! Excellent atmosphere, customer service, and décor.
What a great little find! I tried it out it out for lunch while passing through on business and was pleasantly surprised. The decor and interior of the restaurant is extremely nice and clean. Think upscale fancy rustic . The service was excellent. I ordered the barrister burger with a side salad, accompanied by a water. I wanted the burger on a lettuce wrap which they were glad to do. The taste of both was very good. Great flavors all around. The absolute only thing to be aware of is that it 's a little on the high side in my opinion. For my lettuce burger, side salad and a water it was $15.00, which was a little steep for lunch. BUT, that 's just my opinion. It was surely a good meal with great service in a unique environment.
Best fried pickles I have ever had! We had decent service this night too so I have nothing negative to say about that! I did get a shrimp Po boy with only four shrimps on it, but the four shrimp I had were absolutely delicious so I tried not to complain. The fries were super mushy, but I think it's a problem that could've easily been fixed if I had chosen to send them back...
We really wish we had a nice review for this place. The setting is great we had VIP tickets to Kill A Mockingbird which included dinner here before the play. We arrived two hours before the play was to start. We placed our order and 20 minutes or so later, they brought the wrong order. The waitress did admit she put it in wrong so no worries, we're still early at this point. We kind of assumed our order would be pushed to the front but apparently not. Another waitress came up and also apologized and said they will give us a free drink. My husband gave her his drink order and.....nothing. We asked about it maybe 20 minutes later and were told yeah, they're kind of busy. Another 10 minutes or so, our meals finally showed up and then someone finally came up with the drink. Our filets had most likely been sitting for a while. The meat was barely warm, it was a bit difficult to cut, and the veggies and potatoes were barely warm as well. Once we finished, the waitress showed up with our check except that dessert is included. We asked about it and she took our order. Again we sat and sat and she shows up with one order......there are two of us. She went back to get the other order and finally shows up with it. Btw, dessert was bread pudding which was delicious. However, we walked out of there almost two hours after arriving. Thank goodness we only had to walk across the street for the play. Not sure if it was an inexperienced server, bad management, typical of the place, or what, but it certainly did not sit well with us. We like to tip well for good food and service but we just couldn't do it here.
The food is kind of expensive but of very high quality. My mother and I both purchased the Barrister Burger and instantly, audibly WOW ed at how delicious it was. The only bad thing is the wait time. We waited about 45 minutes for our food but the quality made up for it. The restaurant itself had a very vintage feel and was very aesthetic to the eyes however the tables were rickety. The servers were kind and checked up on us often.
