I ordered the mariana pasta with (specks of overcooked seafood) and was told that the pasta is made fresh by the chef. Upon placing the first strand in my mouth, I realised that the noodles are instant noodles. BOO for false advertising! The tomato based sauce was way too salty and ambushed with too much parsley. There wasn't any real tomato sauce at all to be honest. My palette was left screaming for thirst from the pouches of MSG. The bbt are also packed with sugar and artificial colours.
Hi Tea has recently moved inside Coventry Square markets up the back near MCQ and they now also serve food as well as bubble tea. The food menu has both a big breakfast range and an Italian pasta based dinner range plus hamburger and steak sandwich. Three of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. The eating area is totally open on 2 sides to the Coventry Markets internal aisles and there is seating for about 20 customers. The decor and atmosphere are totally absent for a restaurant. We ordered a steak sandwich on ciabatta with chips, a medium heat chilli pasta and baby octopus and a creamy pasta and asparagus with prawns. All meals were between $12 and $14. The steak sandwich and chips came first and was very good. The pasta and octopus had a great chilli sauce but the octopus was a little chewy I had ordered it at their suggestion as it was new on the menu so I suppose their cooking of octopus is still in the learning stage. There were only 5 octopus but that was OK considering the price The pasta with asparagus and prawns was also very tasty but only 6 prawns were discovered once again the price was very low so no real complaint. The kitchen was very slow so we each received our meals around 7 mins apart and we were the only food customers! They will have to speed the kitchen up considerably if the place is ever full. Breakfast prices were also quite low and included eggs Benedict. The owner is very enthusiastic and he seems to be developing and improving his menu and delivery. He came and spoke to us at length about his new business. He seems to have a lot of loyal bubble tea customers who have followed him from the previous location. I didn't score this place too highly but the restaurant business shows promise.
Back in the days when Hi Tea moved to Morley I loved it! I would have one every week. I havnt had this in a while but came across a price deal so I thought why not try it out again. I had a summer milk tea (can't remember exact name) with pearls. The bubble tea was soo sweet, I was tryna taste it abit more tryna detect what kinda flavour that it was giving. Mind you, I had this flavour before and it was great. Anyways, so I kept getting this odd taste from the pearls. And Literally, the pearls were off or something, it had a coffee like taste to it, which was so weird. The pearls were no good, it must've been soaking for a very long time. Or idk, it was just weird. I must admit, quality has died down, but they do have potential. What I do recommend are the smoothies, they're really good! Especially the avocado smoothie. Staff are very nice, especially the owner. A little update: THEY'RE GOOD NOW
Best mango smoothies out! Was very sad to see they had moved from the city. But lucky for me they are closer to my house now. The venue is always hot but you just get takeaway and browse the market
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE QUALITY. USED TO BE GOOD. Ordered 4 custard Apple snows was undrinkable. All ice and no sugar. Sorry Kodee (owner), love ur durian smoothie but it's hit and miss. When you make it the drinks are great like the shop you used to run in the city. However when you staff make it, the drinks are not good. Please ensure quality is maintained, the service is good but the wait 15 mins for a Sunday afternoon when not busy just is unacceptable
