The caboose was well maintained, super clean and the bed was really comfy. Food was amazing at the restaurant...we ended up eating there both nights. The staff were professional and pleasant. We wanted for nothing during our stay! We enjoyed the town, the grounds and napped a lot. Can't wait to go again!
One of my favorite and unique stops near Shasta. I’ve stayed in a caboose (fun). I’ve stayed in the campground (peaceful). I walked the grounds (beautiful view of castle crag). I’ve stopped for a meal and to walk the dog. Always good. Always fun. Great burgers for lunch.
Such inviting grounds that we stayed enjoying them for 2 hours after we checked out. Friendly customer focused staff, with well maintained and clean grounds, rooms and buildings. Gorgeous views of forest and mountains. Caboose rooms were surprisingly spacious. Perfect amenities/ grounds for a relaxing time with kids. A 2 inch deep stream runs through the property giving little ones a safe and fun place to explore while shaded seating including lunch tables, chairs and benches dot the property making it easy to sit near kids while they explore. Small pool and spa, playground (awesome scenic view and a shade structure with seating), fenced dog park area. Outside of the restaurant is a 1920's engine that you can climb inside, running electric train (kids can turn on by pushing a button) and fountain, and ladder ball game. Breakfast served 9am-2pm. Mini train ride$5/person tours the property. Our kids aged 3-14 all had a blast and didn't want to leave.
I had a great stay here in one of their cabooses. It was clean, warm and quite comfortable. The staff was professional and helpful. My favorite part were the two cats, Bonnie and Clyde. The resort is very close to Dunsmuir, I was able to bike there in 10 minutes, and you can drive in less than 5 minutes. It was quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended.
I took my 10 year old on a Mother/Son vacation. Rail Road Park Resort was our first stop. I can’t say enough great things. First of all sleeping in a train car was so fun. My son was in heaven. When we left home the weather was calling for 3-5 inches of snow. We ended up getting 12-15 inches and couldn’t make it to our next destination. The staff was all amazing. They Happily made sure we were taken care of. They made us feel so welcome and comfortable. The dining car is a wonderful bonus. Good food, live music, full bar and a cozy wood burn stove. 100 out of 10 we will been back again and again.
