The Highlander - Neath Port Talbot

Horrible place. We ordered draught beer but there was something wrong with it as it was undrinkable. We complained about it but the staff just shrugged and poured it away. No apology or offer of a refund. Very unfriendly atmosphere. Would never set foot in there again.

Ordered via phone for home delivery. Took 50 mins to arrive. Everything was piping hot and freshly made. Very tasty and authentic Thai food. Will definitely be using again!

Ordered takeout last night from Highlander Thai, the food took over an hour to be cooked, then we were told there was no driver on so could we come to collect it. Once we got home we realised we were 2 dishes short, contacted the restaurant to resolve the issue but the girl on the phone became irate and claimed we never ordered it to begin with. Told us we should have 17 trays, we had 15. Not believing us she then wanted to come to our house to see the food, which baffled us! Then told us they’d cooked the extra dishes even though they said we’d never ordered them (work that one out) going back to collect the missing dishes we were then asked to pay for them AGAIN, called them out on the calculation of the bill, we had already paid for them. Again they accused us of lying, and then calculated the bill again and what a surprise that fell short of the £70 we had paid and therefor proved that we had paid for food they hadn’t delivered, but added on £7 for no reason? Unwilling to give us the food without paying a second time, we decided to leave. The treatment we received from the counter staff was diabolical. I had to ask her not to shout at me talk over me. As for the food that was given, one portion of chips was burnt, the other undercooked, the ribs were foul, the other food bland and all of us had upset stomachs after it. I would never ever go here again. Over priced, tasteless food, with argumentative, rude and incompetent staff. APPALLING! Left comments on their Instagram page about this shortly after, which were subsequently ignored.

Thai food was excellent, food portion sizes and excellent quality, hot on arrival and waitresses were pleasant and friendly, I have eaten here 6 times in the last 8 months ,also had take away and never been dissatisfied, but place needs to be updated.

I decided to give this takeout another chance, despite my previous review being from 2017. I really wish I had read it before spending £2.50 on what was labeled as "Thai" prawn crackers. They were not authentic Thai crackers, but more like the ones you usually get for free with a Chinese meal, only these were soggy and greasy. The tempura prawns were not actually in tempura batter, but breaded and reminiscent of something you would find in a pub. The red Thai curry was decent, but it was filled with slimy aubergine, which was unpleasant. The special fried rice contained frozen vegetables and what appeared to be lettuce, and the prawn toast was simply terrible, the worst I have ever tasted. The only reason I gave this review more than one star is because, despite the fact that it took over 2 and a half hours for my order to be delivered (even though I live just a few hundred yards away), the driver was very apologetic for the delay and gave me a can of soda. The delivery driver was lovely, but the food was awful. I will never order from here again.
