Best meal I've had in a long time. The lamb haneeth was so tender that I could gently scrape it off the bone with a spoon. It was so flavorful, too. Heartwarming Interactions were very warm and helpful. The restaurant is attached to a shop and is full too the brim with various products. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
So, we saw pictures of Halal food and thought, oh this place looks good! Plates seem big with plenty of meat. Being halal is a plus. We get there, it's a small takeout setup with a couple of chairs. The older gentleman at the counter was Spanish and barely understood what we were saying. First, we had to ask him to come close to the counter so we can talk to him. He just stood there! So we went to get the platter with multiple meats, and he told us that the picture on the menu (the only paper copy) is wrong. They don't make that. So we ordered lamb kebab plates that come with rice and salad. See picture. We paid over $100 for 5 of these plates but they barely had any lamb. Looked like 1 or 2 skewers were divided into all plates. 3 pieces each with rice. The salad had so much vinegar, it burnt my throat. I coughed for several days. The rice was okay, with minimal flavor. But the lamb kebabs were burnt and hard. As if they were precooked and then microwaved for us. There was no point mentioning anything to the cook/server/clerk as he barely listened or understood and was the only one there. We came all the way from Manchester to try this place. We were so happy that there's another halal joint we can add to our list. But. Never again.
The service that I received on Sunday, July 16th was absolutely terrible! I was charged $40 total, for the Mediterranean appetizer sampler $12 and the Madanis Mix $22. Not sure how it came out to $40 But then I was told that there was No Lamb for the Madanis Mix. Just chicken and an Over Cooked piece of Beef. My Mediterranean Sampler was also missing the 2 Grape Leaves. The person working wouldn't refund my money once I asked about paying Full Price for a portion of my order. Here's images of this $40 meal that was worth $20!
We love finding little hidden local eateries like this one when we travel to new states. The food was homemade which was exactly what we were looking for. There was love and care in each bite. I had a chicken kebab meal, my partner had a gyro meal, and our kids had hummus and falafel. Ordering in store was a bit more difficult than if we had ordered online and we still ended up with one meal we didn't order. I know there have been mixed reviews about the service. Honestly, I am ok with people showing up as their authentic selves and people do respond to the energy customers bring. The man at the counter was a real person, immigrant, and not a cookie cutter customer service agent. He was helpful and even recommended we buy a bag of pita at the grocery, because it would be more cost efficient for our family. Personally, those are the kind of folks I like to support. Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegetarian options including falafel, hummus, rice dishes, and lentils. Parking: There's drive up parking.
