I dined at this hotel restaurant out of necessity as no other options were available. While the ingredients were of good quality, they were not utilized well in the dishes. The scallops were decent, but had an unusual chocolate sauce drizzled on them. The Seabass was dry and tasted like it had been previously frozen, but the most peculiar part was the seasonal vegetables. Red cabbage paired with sultanas, new potatoes, and turnip. Yes, turnip. It was flavorless and watery. Considering it was almost June, I cannot recommend this restaurant despite the friendly staff.
Located within the St James Hotel, this restaurant serves as the dining room for hotel guests. The menu offers a variety of simple yet delicious meals at affordable prices. It was surprising to find the restaurant not busier on a Saturday night, but being situated in the heart of Grimsby's bustling nightlife scene, locals may opt for a quieter and more upscale dining experience for their Saturday night outing.
Make sure to inquire about any discounts available when placing your order. The food is prepared fresh to order, which may result in longer wait times during busy evenings. However, the quality and quantity of the dishes are exceptional and worth the wait.
My husband and I ordered a combo meal, followed by Haddock and chips at this restaurant. I opted for the scampi, which was incredibly fresh and tasty. The next day, my husband ordered a salad, while I enjoyed the gammon. Both dishes were delightful.
