My boyfriend and I thought we'd try out this little hidden away pub restaurant today and did not disappoint. The staff were incredibly friendly which was lovely. As a picky eater myself I find it hard to eat out but the menu had just about something for everyone. My boyfriend got the $12 parmi and I had the chicken breast with creamy prawns. Both were massive for what you paid for and definitely filling. The chicken tasted fresh and not like it had been frozen for a few days like a lot of other pubs. We will definitely be back!
The staff were friendly and helpful. We were amazed that a decent sized glass of Tasmanian bottled wine - from a well known vineyard - was just $6. Excellent. My friend had chicken schnitzel and said it was delicious. I had the roast lamb - a generous serving and quite acceptable. My request for mint sauce was happily met. Prices were excellent - $12 for the chicken and $15 for the roast. Hard to find such value for money anywhere these days. We started the evening with coffee, which at $3 ($3.50 for a mug) was again excellently priced. It was a bit weak, but OK. The only negative for us was that we could not have an end-of-meal coffee as the coffee machine had been turned off, which seemed unfortunate given there were still a dozen or so diners in the restaurant.
I have eaten at this hotel for years ,but today it was terrible will not be going back unless they change chefs
A few friends and I visited the Wagon tonight to watch the cricket on telly. Two of us had the chicken parmigiana and a rissoles and mash from the 12 dollar menu. Both were delicious and big serves! Friendly service and good ambience. I am going back tomorrow for another lunch and watch the UFC bout, one of the few places in Hobart that shows it.
