No apology! Wasn 't a great start but were accommodated downstairs which was fine. Next we placed an order and paid for a large round of drinks. The guy behind the bar poured 2 then disappeared leaving six of us without drinks when we realised he wasn 't coming back we had to ask another member of staff to finish serving us! Again no apology! The food Had to ask for extra gravy and again for sauces/mustard which the waiter begrudgingly brought over two tiny pots for the whole table!!! The same size portion was given to a table of 2 next to us! We gave up asking for more. The food itself was just nice , Yorkshire Puddings were over cooked and the Pork was all fat and very little meat it wasn 't enjoyable. Beef tasted ok but have had better. Overall the pub itself is really nice and we all had high expectations but all said and done, I would give it another go but not for Sunday Lunch. I would have expected the staff (and there were plenty of them) to be attentive and more willing to make the customer experience a pleasant one. Maybe they 'd had a long day who knows but in hospitality you can 't let this show in front of the paying customers especially when you 're collectively spending just over £400! To be fair I shouldn 't be taring all the staff with the same brush but can only judge on the service we received.
I went with a group of women to this restaurant. Despite it being busy, the staff were still attentive. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. This was my second time visiting and I will definitely be returning.
Additionally, a booking made by my sister-in-law was not acknowledged upon arrival, leading to a lack of assistance in finding a table or any apology. Luckily, the restaurant was not busy, so we managed to find our own space and join tables together for an 84th birthday celebration. As a non-local visitor, I will not be returning and would recommend locals to choose elsewhere for dining. The garden area seemed suitable for drinks, so sticking with that option may be a better choice. My advice to the owner or manager would be to encourage their staff to smile more.
The george was a lovely location on a sunny evening. Sat in the garden to enjoy our dinner but the fish and chips were very poor.
I come here regularly as, in my opinion, it’s the best pub in the area for food and the garden is really pleasant. The staff are always very helpful and polite. But please would you put the liver back on your menu! I know it’s summer but it was delicious!
