Service and greeting from the bar staff was good, prompt table service food delivered quickly. In regards to the dishes I had the lentil and haloumi salad $22) and my mate had the beef ribs $26) both pictured. The beef ribs were cooked to perfection and falling off the bone trimmings were well cooked. The salad was quite good, haloumi and lentils cooked well only thing I will say is it needed a squirt of lemon juice to lift the whole dish other than that I couldn’t fault it. Overall I think it’s a nice place to have lunch or dinner, the inside is quite charming and I liked the whole experience. Always hungry thumbs up for this one.
It 's another big old pub that I 've driven past hundreds of times. situated on Henley Beach Road opposite Little Canton and just down from the Foodland, there 's plenty of parking out the back with a drive through bottle shop, pokies, live music , pokies and all the trimmings.<br/ <br/ Inside there 's a slightly saggy Art Deco vibe going on in a big eating space with plenty of tables. There 's a function room upstairs and the night we were there it was being used by a Buck 's Night, but it 's clearly well insulated because not a peep interrupted our meal.<br/ <br/ Very friendly staff took our orders and it all soon arrived. There were three of us.<br/ <br/ Ordered Cheesy Garlic Bread, a grazing platter and a beef schnitzel with gravy plus a round of drinks a soft drink, a juice and a cider.<br/ <br/ Bread rolls arrived and were fresh and tasty. The grazing platter had two well packed beef sliders, about a dozen Buffalo wings and two arancini. Along with the garlic bread this was shared between 19 year old son and his mum who also helped herself to a fair bit of salad from my schnitzel plate.<br/ <br/ The schnitzel arrived with chips, salad and (how civilised! gravy in a separate jug<br/ <br/ Everything was perfectly acceptable and, while not the greatest food I 've eaten lately (or even the greatest pub food it tasted fine and it filled us up and left us happy.<br/ <br/ Cost was just North of $70 for the three of us which, to be frank, seemed a little high for what we got.<br/ <br/ But it was all firmly in the 'pretty good ' range.<br/
A family outing for lunch on a Sunday 20 folks. Plentiful parking caters well for the older folks whilst internally, a nice refined decor, with a 1920 's 'deco ' twist. Friendly enough staff and reasonable range, also suited to folks on a pension. I ordered atlantic salmon with bok choy, mushrooms and soy. I still remember the first bite of the mushroom, that just melted a delight. A somewhat 'light ' meal that I supplemented with some of the wifes pizza to assist my running training. Good venue that caters well for large groups.
I came here for a Christmas function and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the steak and it was beautiful! Perfectly cooked served with delicious sides of potato bake and beans. Flavours, cooking and seasoning all on point.
I don't go to pubs a great deal and the experience of the Hotel Royal on Henley Beach Road was very positive. Clean modern interior with plenty of casual seating in the bar area next to the Bistro. Right from the start the service was spot on with a friendly greeting, explanation about the menu if we were interested in eating there, and the offer of ice cold water wonderful on a 40 degree day! We chose to order in the bar, and the lamb salad and Caesar salad were both fresh and good size serves excellent value for money. The area overlooking Henley Beach Road was relaxing with a choice of stools or bucket lounge seats and the volume of the cricket and the music was just right. A very pleasant experience overall.Summary: Excellent customer service many could learn from the staff member who served us!. Food was fresh, served quickly and at $18 were good value. Great menu choices including burgers, pizzas and standards like fish and steak just to name a few. Easy parking in Jervois Street or at the back of the Hotel. An unpretentious place with a lot to offer. Worth a try? Absolutely even if hotels are not what you might normally consider this one is worth a go.
