Rare Plant Research - Oregon City

I was in charge of organizing our annual gathering of old friends and discovered Villa Catalana. It truly exceeded my expectations! The ambiance was tranquil and beautiful, making us feel as if we had been transported elsewhere. The Pinot Gris was our favorite, but we also brought home a couple of bottles of dessert wine. I highly recommend watching the YouTube video about the restaurant, as the gracious owners share the inspiration behind the building materials, walls, and gardens. My only wish is that my review doesn’t attract too much attention and make the place overly popular!

I participated in a wine tasting and was truly impressed by the Pinot Gris, which I typically don’t gravitate towards, yet I ended up buying a bottle. The staff here are incredibly friendly and we brought our dog along, unsure if that would be allowed. Luckily, the owners love dogs and even provide water bowls at the inn for them. I highly recommend visiting the pond to see the exceptionally cool metal dragon. There are also striking statues and columns scattered throughout the grounds. This has certainly become one of the most stunning wineries in Oregon. The beautiful surroundings offer plenty of space, making it perfect for larger groups, with lovely covered tables that are shaded by a beautiful array of flowers and plants. I can’t wait to come back!

Stopped into Villa Catalana today and I am so glad I did. Just a stones throw outside Portland located in Oregon City , you feel like you've hopped on a plane to Europe. The scenery is lovely and there are numerous seating options available throughout the property. I ended up sitting on the pond and enjoying a picnic with a bottle of wine after a tasting. The tastings go for 10 each with 7 pours. A glass goes for 10, and most bottles are somewhere in the 20 25 range. You can bring a picnic and enjoy the scenery with your wines! It was a lovely way to spend a summer afternoon, and I highly recommend checking it out!

The plants were lovely, healthy and robust were exactly as pictured and promised. Delivery was prompt. One year later, all 12 plants that I purchased remain healthy and are growing well. I am so pleased!

Ventured here for the wine tasting and had a great time. Even though it was during the winter, the grounds were still very beautiful I look forward to seeing it during the spring and summer. The tasting itself is held in a greenhouse with so many lush plants and trees it was very comfortable, especially with it being cold outside. The tasting was inexpensive only 10 and we sampled 6 wines. We liked them all and brought home a couple of bottles of our favorites. Everyone was extremely friendly and we enjoyed talking with the owners and other patrons. It was a relaxing and easy going way to spend the afternoon! Villa Catalana is a surprise gem that is only about 20 minutes outside of Portland. We will definitely be going back to try their monthly lunch buffet!
