The address of the Red Dot is not Main Street in Ottawa, but Main Street in Osgoode, on the edge of Ottawa-Carleton Municipality, considerably removed from the city itself. A group of us are in the habit of visiting different restaurants for lunch once a...month or so. Eight of us (four couples) went to the Red Dot, in spite of the mixed reviews. Our hostess was congenial and got us seated with menus. Our server was over quickly, securing drink orders. Being on fixed incomes (seniors), we were somewhat deterred by what we considered the high side of lunch prices for a village restaurant. My spouse and I both ordered the Angus burger. I substituted sweet potato fries for the regular ones; she substituted onion rings. The burger was $13 without cheese, plus $2 for the substitution (i.e. $15). Other orders included the fish and chips, liver, and onion soup. Our verdict: nothing special, other than the cost, which was high for what we received in exchange. The food was not extra good or extra tasty, nor was it bad--just average. Service was reasonable. We do not expect to visit again.
Menu is way too big. Horrible food, nothing real. All off the food service truck. Ordered fajitas. Came out of the kitchen in like 3 min. they were terrible. This place used to be a decent local place. Not anymore.
I went to this restaurant on Valentine's day. The service was below average, but it was understandable because it was a busy night. I ordered the Firehouse 92 burger, but it was severely overcooked and burnt. It was disappointing to see a sirloin burger served in such a poor quality. It felt more like a cremation for the cow rather than a meal, as I couldn't even eat half of it. If it had been better, I would have at least brought it home for my dog, but unfortunately I did not.
The restaurant has a fantastic menu and is located in a nice spot. It's a bit hidden from the main road, so keep an eye out for Foodland as it's right next door. The service is wonderful, and a plus is the bar next door.
