The Varsity Club - Oxford

Be warned, you can’t order sort of cocktails from the roof upstairs! That’s a shame for a cocktail bar. We waited our table in the roof for an hour. We consumed downstairs and that was fine. When we finally got there we asked for 5 CAMPARI SPRITZ, a regular cocktail (Campari and Prosecco) that we already had while waiting downstairs. They don’t serve Campari spritz upstairs and we should have gone to collect that at the bar downstairs. Hard to believe. I mean, you hire more staff and they make the cocktails wherever they want. You cannot ask your clients to book for a waiter table and at the same time asked them to make waitress jobs. The worst was the waitress reply “I’M BUSY” to the simply question “why wouldn’t you order them from downstairs?” Indecent and unprofessional.

Having read previous reviews about slow service, I was a little worried about what to expect but I needn’t have worried. The service was slick and we managed to get 2 cocktails in during the time we had reserved the table for (1hr 15 mins). We visited on a sunny June day. The atmosphere and the spectacular views across Oxford made for a memorable evening. Well worth a visit!

Overall a great experience and nice views of Oxford. The drinks were a little slow but this was understandable as there was only 1 member of staff. Drinks were nice, good sized related to the price compared to others in the area. Nice to come during the day in the week as it’s quieter than at an evening, would return!

Booked a rooftop table here with cocktails for my friends hen do. The drinks weren't ready when we arrived which delayed us as we only had a two hour slot. The pitchers were good and the prosecco finally arrived on ice. I also ordered two sharing anti pasti boards which arrived literally as our 2 hour session was about to end and we had to dart off to our next booking. Very disappointing that we had to leave so much wasted food and drink The rooftop bar is covered over mostly but very breezy and you might still get wet of there's a lot of rain, so be warned to wrap up! It's also very tight up there.

Decent place but not all it is made out to be. Over 4 floors with a roof terrace partially covered. Staff attitude not great
