They offered us the option to have our pizza made with Daiya cheese, and even the garlic knots could be prepared vegan, which we really appreciated.
Located in a renovated garage with quirky ski-themed decor, this restaurant exudes a casual and funky atmosphere. Although vegan cheese is not officially on the menu, we were able to request stuffed garlic knots and a veggie pizza with vegan mozzarella. The pizza was topped generously with veggies, and the garlic knots were delightfully soft and puffy with crispy cheese on the edges. Even my friend who is usually hard to impress had a great experience!
This is the best vegan pizza I've ever eaten! Everyone is so beautiful and knows how to modify ingredients to make sure it is vegan. You choose your crust, sauce and all your toppings that are generous!
The staff are very friendly and eager to please customers. While they advertise on their website that they have vegan options, it is not clear what they are on the menu. Because I had reviewed the Happy Cow entries, I was better able to ask specific questions and the waitress was very knowledgable about what they could provide for vegans. She was quickly able to tell me the wheat based pizza crust was vegan but not the gluten free crust, that their marinara sauce was vegan and they could substitute vegan cheese for dairy based cheese. I asked her if they could make the garlic knots with olive oil and garlic rather than butter and garlic and she stated that they could. We soon had a delicious meal of garlic knots and a vegetable pizza on the wheat based pizza crust with a marinara base and vegan mozzarella and feta cheeses. The restaurant emphasizes they cook from scratch and it shows. The pizza crust was crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy in the middle. The vegetables were plentiful and included sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, black olives, onions and mushrooms. The staff were attentive and efficient. We ate in the restaurant, which is small. They do have takeout as well. Definitely would return here next time I am in Pagosa Springs.
They recently changed their marinara sauce to make sure it is vegan. Yippee! We love it, but still prefer their olive oil and garlic because it allows the vegetables to shine. Just ask for the vegan cheese for their pizzas or calzones and then build your own. Don’t be surprised by the increase in cost because of the vegan cheese. It’s unfortunate, but at least it’s an option! Limited space inside, but worth the wait.
