Bear's Belly Bbq At Fox Run Lodge

This is hands down the best BBQ I've ever had! I would give it a perfect 10 out of 10—it's a must-try. It's truly a hidden gem.

The meats were very bland as if no seasoning was used whatsoever and was incredibly dry. They were also out of multiple items on the menu. The server told a table that was seated after ours that they had given us all of the lettuce so salad wasn’t an option for them as if it were our fault that there was no more lettuce. Very disappointing experience.

We ordered the large sampler plate and beef tips. Beef, chicken and pork were absolutely amazing. Super tender and flavorful, sauce was spot on. You get 4 sides so we picked baked beans, coleslaw, loaded potato salad and side salad and it came with cornbread. Everything was amazing! Well worth the money which was extremely reasonable for all that you get. We will definitely be coming back!!

As someone who was born and raised in the Carolinas, I have barbecue running through my veins! I decided to go all-in and order the largest platter to share with my husband. The salad was delicious, featuring high-quality ingredients! However, the cornbread was sweeter than I prefer. The beans, on the other hand, were fantastic—I could easily eat a bucket of them! Unfortunately, there was nothing particularly special about the mac and cheese; it was just okay. The cole slaw was also merely alright. The ribs were smoky and tender, while the chicken skin was a bit tougher than I like. The pulled pork, regrettably, was dry. On a positive note, the brisket was outstanding! I definitely recommend checking this place out; it’s one of the best BBQ spots in Alaska for sure!
