My first impression walking through the door at Ranchero was a hostess that had her headphones in, dirty floors, finger printed windows, and a slight smell of sewage once sat at our table, but was pleasantly delighted to receive complimentary chips and salsa. Our server had no name tag, a dirty apron, and it seemed no one was in an actual uniform. Our server wore a black Adidas shirt backwards and a stained apron. I was not expecting a high class dining experience due to the title bar and grill but I expected a clean dining room with neatly dressed staff. Halfway through our visit, a man started power washing the windows, and I noticed the windows were leaking as water started to drip next to me, this is a very inappropriate time during service to start power washing windows if you ask me. Next we get into the food. The menu has more pages than the Bible, and it 's hard to decide what you want to eat, a bulk of the items include the term favorite next to it, but I believe this is a flaw due to the fact that almost everything on the burritos category is marked as favorite . I got the create your own 3 combo with a steak burrito , a taco, and grilled chicken enchilada served alongside rice and beans. The burrito was more of a taco more than the taco was. Upon the food arriving, I received steak bits wrapped in a tortilla with some sauce on top, a cold hard shell taco minimally prepared, and a corn tortilla with some chicken in it. I 'm not a picky guy, but this is just not what presented to us on the menu. A burrito is much more than just a meat stuffed tortilla, clearly someone didn 't get the memo here. Our server dropped off the food and didn 't speak to us for 20 minutes until she slammed the check on our table and said thank you for coming in. This is not hospitable, it gives the impression that we are being rushed out. Lastly, I went to the restroom after my meal to find it also smelled very heavily of sewage and it had paper towels sprawled all over the floor as well as vulgar remarks etched into the mirror. Overall I will have to give my experience here at Ranchero a solid 4/10, this is not the type of place I would want to go back to, but it wasn 't absolutely terrible. A few things need to be nit picked via management and the ownership to get this restaurant on its way to being grand. I do not write these reviews to be mean, or to harm a restaurants reputation, I write them to hopefully get through to the establishments and enact real change to make their business more hospitable and to give a better dining experience. Anyways, if you 've read this far, thank you for reading and stay hungry friends :
Food was pretty good! However i ordered a quesadilla, however it was more like a taco, very small which was unfortunate. Other than that service was good and food was tasty
The good: Some of the best chips I've had in a Mexican restaurant; light and crisp, and the salsa was very good too. The prices are very reasonable and service was very good. The bad: While the Tex-Mex style of cooking was to be expected, the greasy fajitas weren't. It appeared the meat was sautéed in a pan with butter as opposed to being cooking in an iron skillet over high heat. No charring, just a buttery grease. No thanks. The ugly: The bathroom area smelled like a port-o-let on an August day in Mobile.
Dirty, smells, gross food on floor, need to clean, clean, clean, oh and clean. Nice server!!!
Terrible. Biria taco taste and smell like a cat . Looked dirty and I couldn't eat the food. Never going back.
