The Crown Inn Elton - Peterborough

Evening Dinner only did not stay here. A little disappointing due to lack of attention to detail, the dinning room became unpleasantly warm during the evening it’s a lovely purpose built room with a ventilation system that wasn’t switched on. The table was not laid correctly. Service was quick but the waitress forgot to bring the sides until prompted. We were not asked if everything was ok. For my taste the pork option was seasoned so heavily with herbs I couldn’t taste the Pork and as for the dessert the option ordered was not available and substituted with a very average offering. The room was very good: spacious, modern, well decorated, in excellent condition, the bed was huge and comfy, the bathroom was great and the room came with its own private garden. One of the nicest hotel rooms I've stayed in. There was lots of parking. The breakfast was also very good. I stayed only one night prior to visiting Burghley the next day. I can't speak for the rooms as I didn't stay there, It was just a stop off for a drink. Unfortunately, food isn't served Mondays or Tuesdays, so we had to make do with a bag of crisps. Very quiet around lunch time on Tuesday. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful, pointing out some nice walks in the area. Set In a lovely country village location, with the river Nene I believe) close by. The Inn has a thatched roof and, although I didn't find out much about the history of the place, it did have a very oldly feel about it. Will be going back for a meal sometime. Walkability: Plenty of scope for country walks. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet
