It has transformed into a generic Pittsburgh sandwich shop. While you can still order a gyro, it is served on a bland, pre-packaged tortilla wrap. It appears that the young owners struggled during the pandemic, but when they were fully operating, the food was excellent. It seems that the local community did not provide enough support for them to maintain their Turkish cuisine.
The chicken and lamb dishes were both delicious and satisfying. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere perfect for a comforting meal. Everything tasted fresh and the variety of side options made it difficult to choose just one. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.
The chicken slaughter was simply excellent, as well as I had in the near east (these young are from Morokko – this is the authenticity.) very large portion for $11. definitely back.
The food is tasty and looks fresh, but the big issue with my visit was the overall cleanliness. The cashier was handling the cash with a glove on, then used the same glove to grab a handful of cooked gyro meat and put it in the sandwich. Then touched all of the ladles and the microwave and the oven with the same glove. Kinda gross when you think about how many hands have touched that cash and that same glove handles the cooked meat.edit: I appreciate the response from the owner. If they change their cleanliness habits, this food is definitely worth trying!
His food is so beautiful!! Vegan magic!! Love picking full plate w 6 choices. For me the cabbage and homemade hot sauce is everything!!
