I headed up the main street of Avenue Juarez, crossed under the highway overpass and kept going. I stopped in Par de Ases to purchase a water and checked out the menu. The place is very unassuming. Your typical tile floor cement structure that you find in most places off the beaten path but the waiter convinced me with his food descriptions so I came back later for dinner.I got the shrimp on a sizzeling platter with ajillo chile...delicious! Make sure you dip the bread in the leftover sauce. I could have made that my meal but I also ordered steak tacos and they were just as wonderful. I am SO happy that I found this place and I have been telling anyone I know going to Playa del Carmen that they need to go there! I can't wait to make it back for more!!
We stumbled upon Par de Ases (love the name) on a walk west of the highway, as we love walking in the local neighborhoods. Knew nothing about it, but it was our lucky day. Enjoying a late lunch, we had the place to ourselves, and we were treated like royalty by the proprietor and the lovely waitress who served us. Shrimp ceviche and fish fillet a la diabla were both delicious, and an added touch were the beautiful dishes and even heavy, very shiny flatware. Attention to detail at its finest. Prices were reasonable as well. We will definitely return!
I just went to this wonderful mexican restaurant yesterday, which serves various regional dishes that are excellent! Each of us was served a cup of delicious seafood soup and accompanied with warm bread and tortilla chips. Served with those was a wonderful creamed garlic spread as well as a habernero sauce. I had a grouper fillet diablo which I specified how much heat I wanted. It was served with perfectly cooked crisp veggies. Soo good! And, of course, margaritas!! We were treated to fresh, homemade tirimisu! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
