Contribuer aux commentairesWe requested a table for 10 so we knew a long wait was ahead of us. They told us to go have a drink and it would be an hour, which was fine. But then just after we sat down with drinks someone came over - great, but I had to chug my drink. No complaints, just be ready for a shorter wait just in case!So I will say the service was pretty good, the kid was really friendly and attentive. Do note they charge for some water (bubbly and I think possibly still unless you specify tap.) They didn't go over that when he asked us if we wanted bubbly water, but I later saw it in the menu. What is this, Europe? As others have mentioned the serving process is really terrible, at least with a bigger group. Everything comes out when it's ready so we started with an order of fries, then I got rice and beans, and then maybe 10 minutes later the tacos started to roll out. They just hand you a plate with 4 tacos on it and you have to figure out who ordered what. With 10 people this is no walk in the park. And since they kept handing the tacos to the same side of the very long table, it turns out the people at the other end weren't even served anything until others had finished. Even then there was confusion about whether they had even remembered to bring out certain tacos. The food itself wasn't bad. The fries weren't great (change your fryer oil)! and the rice and beans were just okay. The cauliflower taco was delicious though, and fellow diners all seemed to enjoy the other taco offerings. Prices are quite high but it's Muskoka, what do you expect? Ambiance gets 10/10. It felt just like sitting in a beachfront restaurant in Hawaii on a beautiful night. Finally at the end of the evening the waiter informs us they don't split bills, so he'll bring us one and we can do the math to find out who owes what after tax to add up to the total amount. Aaaaand there goes your tip, sorry bud. Owners: don't make your customers do the work, otherwise your wait staff are the ones who ultimately suffer. He still got a tip from all of us I'm sure, but it wasn't what it should have been, since we had to spend a solid 10 minutes trying to make sure we didn't short him.
If you're hungry don't bother unless you plan on spending a ton of money to fill your belly. Food is great! Super small portions. Their signature beer is amazing and was super cold! The Mexican Street Corn was delicious. The bill for 4 of us was more than necessary
Excellent food, highly recommend the cauliflower tacos as well as the carne asada. The wait for a table is insane and unjustified. The service was as best clumsy but friendly and at worst just spectacularly disorganized. Also, when a customer asks for "no onions I'm allergic" and you put green onions ALL OVER the taco? And then say to the customer "yes, this has no onions?" You get no tip. None.
Grand Electric is a good place to go, if you want to blow your money. The portions are very small and super expensive. I went with my family and our grand total came out to over $400. The staff are friendly and the view is incredible although their food is delicious, the sizes are super small. This is a place where you would go just for 1 drink and an appetizer, the Tacos and Ribs are delicious but they are super tiny. I would not recommend this place for dinner, maybe for appetizers, but you will be left hungry.
The Cons: Food portions are VERY small, my husband actually said he could probably fit his $20 entree into his mouth with one bite, rest of the plate was just a heaping pile of plain lettuce (to fill the plate obviously.) Our kids, ordered off the kids menu. The salad was a very small bowl of lettuce only with three sliced cucumbers on top. The french fries were so small, we actually had to order a second one after. There were four adults who shared 2 pitchers of beer, the cheapest beer on the menu I might add, and they were $32 EACH! yes, $64, UNREAL. We left hungry and spent about 3x what we would have next door at Turtle Jacks, which also has a beautiful patio overlooking the water. The Pros: Atmosphere is great, on the lake. The tacos were gluten free and yummy, yet very small, again, only two bites, so you need to order a lot of them, but at $5 a pop. it gets expensive. real fast.
