Debbie, Neil, and the venue exceeded our expectations. Planning a big event can be overwhelming, but Debbie and her staff made everything seamless. We worked directly with Debbie to organize a personalized menu over the phone, including slider burgers, fish and chips, calamari, and chicken. We also had a private function room with open fires, perfect for a winter event in Port Fairy. Debbie even arranged mini hand-around plates for our guests to sample everything. Throughout the day, Neil made sure everyone was well-fed and taken care of. The private space allowed us to enjoy our event without disturbing other pub-goers. We can't thank Debbie and Neil enough for taking such good care of us. If you're looking to host an event, we highly recommend the Star of the West.
We dined at the Star of the West pub for two nights. The portion sizes were substantial, and the vegetable sides were made with fresh produce. The service was quick and welcoming, and the dishes were well-prepared with high-quality ingredients.
Dear restaurant manager. we came to her hotel on 25/2/22 and were really disappointed by the amount of food served to the guests. we asked for cream cake not cheap $7.00 cake from coles. the guests complained about the long life milk and only two...small tellers of stilley sandwiches. this is not the quality of the food you would expect from a restaurant from its level and call. they need to ensure that their customers receive the highest caliber of the available food and the correct preparation. her fellow worker was also very rude to my wife today on the phone. I trust that this is not the type of letter they want to receive from their customers, and I trust that they will treat this complaining strictly while taking all necessary measures to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. jessie lived over 70 years in port fairy and supported the local community. do not organize any features with this hotel they give them cheap eating from coles and bag the rest.
This is my first review ever written. I paid $32 for dry, tough, inedible brisket with bland coleslaw and a side of chips that were supposedly cooked for 18 hours. When I tried to offer constructive feedback to the staff, they immediately blamed the butcher who supplied the meat. It was a very disappointing experience and a waste of money. I would leave a similar review if I received subpar food in Melbourne.
Friendly staff, heaps of meal choices, open fire for a cold winters day. Out door area very shady and relaxing in summer.
