Booked a table for two on a Friday night for dinner which was the only positive thing in the whole experience. Starting with a menu that is straight out of 1970. We asked about gluten free options and of course the only options were the...2 x steak or the roast. I mean for a restaurant that is less that 500 metres from the ocean you would think they could manage something other than battered fish (surely they have the ability to grill something). We settled on the steak but asked about roast veggies no go, only the steamed veggies (I guess straight out of a packet). We also ordered the pie which came with mashed potato and broccoli (some sort of gravy might have helped). After the main course we contemplated dessert and were advised that sticky date pudding was the only option and as to gluten free, there was nothing. When next in Port Fairy we are guaranteed not to return and I suggest you look elsewhere. The kitchen staff have no interest in catering for dietary requirements and staff need to be better educated so they don’t have to check if mashed potato is gluten free.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of food at this restaurant. The main courses, which were inspired by Asian cuisine, were full of flavor and there were great daily specials. The menu had a good selection of seafood and the sticky date pudding was a standout. We highly recommend this place!
Right, so if you advertise on your menu that you cater for allergies just let the staff know, then give some **** excuse about not being able to manage this because of the 'pub kitchen ' that is a cop out. Don 't offer to cater for...allergies then serve up some lame excuse about not being able accommodate this. The only meal that was offered was some griled chicken salad that was almost inedible, with soggy bread, full of lettuce. Other meals were fine, bit that 's not the point of my review.
We have booked for a birthday party for a big group. from the moment on we have a special dame that works behind the bar, and a gentleman was so rude, not only us, but also other mozens. eating was dry and average, overpriced for a pub meal....Few dishes on the menu were not available. great scream and thank the lady who have our table (if their names have) was so beautiful, great personality and friendly. she couldn't have helped us, always smiling and nothing was much annoying.
