The River Social - Providence

This restaurant has a fantastic location, and the window seats are perfect for watching people (and dogs) go by. The hummus was creamy and generously flavored with tahini—simply delicious! They serve fresh pita alongside it. The beet salad was the best I've ever had; the dressing was so flavorful. The drink menu is a bit limited, but when I asked the bartender for something fruity and refreshing, she was happy to accommodate. The owner was lovely. The decor is stylish and playful, and the music was uplifting and fun—"young" without being overwhelming.

This was my first visit to The River Social, and I typically don’t like to leave negative reviews, but my experience wasn't great. First, the heating was broken, making the restaurant uncomfortably cold throughout my meal. Then, when I ordered a drink that was supposed to come with blue cheese olives, I received it with regular olives instead. I know I may sound picky, but I specifically chose that drink for the blue cheese olives, so I wish the waitress had informed me beforehand that they were out of stock. To add to my disappointment, I was served the wrong meal initially. When I finally received the correct order, which was salmon with potatoes, the salmon was a bit dry and unremarkable. The highlight of the meal, however, were the truffle fries—they were absolutely delicious! Overall, I’m unlikely to return.

The location is excellent, and the service is good. The food was enjoyable but not exceptional. Unfortunately, it was a chilly night, and the heating system was malfunctioning!

Service and food were very good although a little pricey. Nevertheless, we definitely look forward to going back again. Location was also very nice and probably outstanding during water fire. It is a limited menu which is not necessarily a bad thing. The table shared truffle fries with feta. Definitely worth trying as these may have been the best fries I've had in a while. We also had Tuna Poke, seared tuna, autumn vegetable ravioli and espresso rubbed flank steak. All excellent. Staff were wonderful, very attentive without hovering over you.
