We had 2 very pleasant evenings with delicious meals and excellent wine. The timing was perfect when everything was cooked. The kitchen is imaginative without being crazy and all the ingredients are beautifully paired. The Pacific Hill with a Wasabi chest was perfection and the homemade engraving and the spot-to-peak Focus were great starters. That really did our stay.
Six of us went to eat and the food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed what he had ordered. The service was also very suitable.
This is a family favourite for romantic dinners, celebrations, or just because. A cozy sophisticated embiance surrounds you with decor in the style of an era gone-by. Donned with antique furniture, lush fabrics, a fireplace and white linens, the venue adds that special touch to...the occassion. Menu is smaller but with plenty of options. It changes seasonally. Portion sizes are generous. Wine and beverage lists are robust with a broad selection of BC wines as well as others. Service is professional and adds to the tone of the venue. We reccommend The Sapphire Room to friends all the time. Don’t forget to get to the restaurant early so you can wander the grounds taking in the beautiful gardens and the backdrop of the Heritage Forest.
After so much up and down in quality in previous years including terrible service (in those previous years), we quit coming back in 2017. Friends told us it is much improved (2022) so we joined them another evening and are so pleased with all the...improvements. First, the service the night we went (Steven) was hugely improved from the past. No pretentious servers, no forgetting about us, totally untrained, etc. Instead we enjoyed friendly, down to earth, attentive service all evening. But the food! We even met the chef (Michelle) who not only creates some pretty top quality food but she was even helping out by bringing some of the food from the kitchen as well. From the amuse buche through to dessert, our meal was full of beautiful flavours, nice contrasts in texture, and everything perfectly cooked as it should be. At our table everyone loved the chef 's amuse buche which will naturally change every evening. Three of us had the salmon gravlax appetizer done the chef 's way and I have to say if I could figure out how to recreate that one, I 'd serve it at every dinner party to rave reviews. One person had the Caesar salad which was so uniquely presented from most. For entrees, two of us had the scallops which I can say is the best scallop dish in terms of flavour I 've eaten anywhere. Superb. One person had the wasabi halibut he kept passing around a taste for each of us because he couldn 't get over how delicious it was. And cooked perfectly. One person had the rack of lamb and he was finished long before the rest of us, so we remarked that he must have loved it! I need to mention again our server, Steven. He helped to make our evening very special. He was so genuinely friendly no fake friendliness and no how was your first bite (I hate when a server asks that it 's so ingenuous and ubiquitous). Anyway Steve gave us space to visit and eat but checked in at appropriate times. We 'd go back just for Steve. All in all, I sure hope they keep Steve and any servers like him and that chef!! This restaurant has never been as good as it is right now. We will be back! Oh yes, and when we talked to the chef, she told us she changes the menu according to seasons as it should be. As long as they keep these people in the kitchen and people like Steve in the dining room, this place is highly recommended for fine dining.
Came to celebrate a birthday and what a meal we had! A wonderful setting for a meal, delicious and innovative food and delightful service. Thoroughly enjoyable and we’ll be back!
