The service was slow and the cafe was dirty. On top of all that, the staff had no manners and when we complained about the lack of good service, they told us never to come back again. The owner shouted in front of everyone in the cafe that she was going to memorise our faces and never allow is to enter again. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Never go there again. It's a waste of time and money as there are much better restaurants and cafes in Ilford that you can enjoy.
Now, let's talk about the food. While waiting for my order, I witnessed a concerning incident in the kitchen where one chef tasted the curry by dipping his finger in it and licking it, reassuring his colleague that it was fine. This made me grateful that I had opted for a vegetarian dish. The Vegetable Curry, or rather an Oil and Onion Curry, was terrible. Despite requesting a mild level of spiciness, it was overwhelmingly hot. The lack of spices, along with the minimal vegetables (mostly onion and carrot), made it an unpleasant experience which unfortunately led to me throwing up. I had ordered a naan but received two stale chapatis instead since the naan chef was not present. The chapatis were so hard that I considered using them as crackers. Overall, the service and food were terrible, and I am surprised that the restaurant passed health and safety regulations. After being sick and needing a day to recover, I would give this place a poor rating. In addition, the price of £15.50 for one vegetable curry and two chapatis was definitely not worth it. An absolute rip-off.
Even though I am not a vegetarian, I was very impressed with the delicious vegetarian food at this restaurant. The dishes were well-prepared, flavorful, and beautifully presented by the friendly staff. The restaurant is conveniently located just around the corner from the railway station. I would definitely love to come back for another visit.
The restaurant offers good service and great food, but its location on TripAdvisor is confusing. Food was served late on a Friday night and it appeared to be a popular meeting spot for friends in the community. Prices were a bit higher compared to other restaurants in the UK. The chicken tikka jalfrezi was enjoyable, although it seemed like the chicken had been stewed rather than cooked in a tandoor like in other places.
