As we rounded the circle at the beach we noticed Semra’s. My wife and I both love Middle Eastern cuisine, so we had to stop. We were greeted warmly as we entered by who turned out to be the owner. Menus were received, and it was learned that the owners were from Turkey. Wonderful hot Turkish tea ordered and received. We of course had seen everything on the menu before in our travels, so ordering was easy. My wife loves Gyro’s and orders them whenever she sees them on the menu. I love to try different things, but have been ordering Kofta kabobs lately whenever I see them. We ordered a Greek Salad to share, a chicken Gyro with French fries for Marsha, and I got the Kofta platter. The Greek salad came quickly and looked like the usual thing, but as we tasted it we realized that there was something different about the dressing, nothing that stood out distinctively, but something in the background that made it better. As we ate we discussed the dressing, I thought that the extra flavor was from sumac, a spice that we have been learning about since we had it at a Persian restaurant back in Baltimore. But dill was also mentioned. Well, as our entrees were served we quizzed the owner about the flavor, and I was right it was the addition of sumac that made the dressing so mysteriously good. The goodness continued through our meals, the Gyro was near perfect, soft tender pita, tasty crisp edged chicken, and nice chunky tzatziki sauce. I didn’t hear much pro or con on the French fries, but they all disappeared. My Kofta platter consisted of really tasty seasoned rice (sumac), sautéed vegetables, and 2 large Kofta that I have to say were the best that I have ever had, plump, juicy and seasoned just right. After our meal we were offered a selection of their homemade desserts by the owners wife, but we were just too full. If you are ever in the Rehoboth Beach area, take the time to visit Semra’s...You won’t be disappointed
Went for dinner and the food was fantastic!<br/ Great place<br/ <br/ Will be back soon....
Semra’s Mediterranean is a Turkish restaurant! Quality of food was outstanding, we ordered Adana Lam kebab! Our server was very responsive and respectful, we really enjoyed the food and I recommend this place for eating Turkish food. Only concern for 4 star is; location is hidden, not really visible from outside. please improve the interior design. big room for improvement on menu. desserts taste/quality wasn’t good at all!
The food here is authentic and amazing! The staff are welcoming, accommodating and attentive. The indoor dining space is warm and welcoming. It will definitely be a repeat for us every time we visit the beach! Don’t let the store front fool you. There’s so much more on the inside!
I just started eating here since the middle of March 2022. I always get the falafel with hummus sandwich with a side of hot sauce. The woman who takes my order is always so nice and friendly. I think she's actively trying to remember my name, which is really cool. Next time I'll take a photo of my sandwich. BTW, the baklava looks pretty good. I might have to order a piece the next time I'm there.
