Chavelita's Cocina Méxicana - Reno

I paid $21 for a combo with three tacos and a Coca-Cola. It included two buche tacos and one lengua taco, for which I paid extra for the specialty meat. Unfortunately, the meat was overcooked, tough, and burnt—so much so that all I could taste was the charred flavor, making it almost inedible and reminiscent of hard jerky. When I went to voice my concerns, the cashier was extremely rude and showed no interest in helping. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. The person serving the plates seemed overly confident, but honestly, these were some of the worst tacos I’ve ever had.

For those looking for vegetarian options, there are plenty available. My husband, who is vegetarian, had the cheese enchiladas and found many choices to suit his diet. As for parking, there is space available behind the restaurant.

I tried their specialty, the Molcajete Armadillo, and it was excellent! It had the right amount of spice, just as they promised. I highly recommend sharing it with a friend, just like I did! Food: 5/5

The food was nearly perfect! I only wish they had some house-made hot sauce. While the birria wasn't my favorite, the asada tacos and the presentation of the plates were absolutely incredible. The staff, who I believe are the owners, were so wonderful. I’m definitely making this my new go-to spot for street tacos! Food: 5/5

I’ve discovered my new favorite hidden gem! The homemade food here is truly delightful. Although I’ve only visited once, everything I tasted was exceptional. The salsa brought back memories of my childhood, just the way I remember it. The birria wasn’t the absolute best I’ve ever had, but it was really good, especially with the homemade tortillas. The masa for the sopes was the best I’ve encountered at any restaurant. The Agua de Horchata was unlike anything I’ve tried before—thicker and almost shake-like, and it tasted homemade. Absolutely delicious! I didn't sample the large burritos, but my kids insisted they were fantastic. I’ll definitely be returning again and again!
