I love to find hidden gems that don’t feel like tourist traps and this is exactly that. I had the falafel pita and it was easily the best falafel I’ve had, exactly as it should be crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside and not stodgy at all. George was such a friendly host and it was exactly the laid back lunch I hoped for. Our lunch cost only €15 for a falafel pita, large water, 2 Greek coffees and (sorry, partner isn’t vegan… a chicken gyros. Also this is named ‘Art Falafel George Maria Restaurant’ on google.
Had the stuffed vine leaves to start and the falafel plate for main! The inside is really quirky as well! Updated from previous review on 2022-04-17
Food here is excellent and the owners are lovely. The baba ganoush (aubergine salad) was the best we had on the island. The falafel is lovely but the best part is definitely the owners. Cute trio of cats there as a bonus. Most vegan options I saw on the island
If I could I would put 10 stars. The best place in Rhodes, looking at the food, location, and service. I got the vegan falafel plate (10 euros) and the zucchini balls (5.50). My boyfriend got two pita gyros (Only 2.50 each, and they were massive). We walked out of there stumbling from how much we ate, and how little we paid. Absolutely the best.
Had food at George and Maria’s twice. The falafel plate was really good and then I came back once again only for a hummus plate with pita. One of the best I’ve had!
