Akaya Sushi, Izakaya Ramen - Richardson

Not an understatement, at the top of my list for every restaurant experience I 've had. Pictures say the rest. The only reason it 's not 5 stars is because there 's always room for improvement in everything, but this one 's pretty dang close to perfect .Food: 5/5

The food was… mediocre. Yellowjacket roll was dowsed in spicy mayo, the ramen tasted like spicy water, the stuffed jalapeños where sloppy and a bit cold,the Philadelphia roll is hard to mess up, however the rice and salmon tasted like buffet quality.Did not try the drinks. Seems like they have an extensive alcoholic variety.The waitress was nice, but distracted.Got my own eating utensils from their station lol.

One of the best sushi spots I know in Richardson, I will be trying it again! To go is quick and easy as well

To start off the night.. I was greeted by a polite female server.And now drink order time.. I ordered a Jameson neat. The server mentioned this could not be made since the bartender had not yet arrived. It was 6pm.I mentioned that it was just a Jameson by itself, nothing is mixed with it.So she brought me the drink. It tasted watered down. Not sure why since I asked for it neat.This was not a good sign. And we are only at the restaurant.When the manger/ bartender arrived he made the drink again. It was still off, but let it go (at the time, clearly bothered if I'm making this post).Now onto the food.The only thing that was decent was the yellowtail.Calamari- was mostly fried noodles, calamari overcooked Ramen- watered down, wished egg was more poached, meat tough Okonomiyaki- overcooked, hard. So much seaweed (at best it's usually dusted with seaweed). It was drowning in sauce. It is not authentic Japanese and it seems like they don't care for their food or customer service.

The restaurant has a clean feel to it with nice food, but when i ordered the assorted tempura i swear on everything i love there was zero shrimp. I’m a manager at a asian restaurant, so i know what shrimp is. The servers were non-existent, and it was slow. The extensive menu is great. Maybe there was service sabotage, but nothing to dwell on…
