Portions are huge. The taste was great. Cleanliness is better than 99% of other foods. Quality...was very good and the prices reminded me of the good times before President FJB came to the white house. The hashbrown was very delicate and crispy outside, soft inside. This is the MOTHER of all Hashbrowns. It didn't feel oily. The food wasn't salty. Your coffee brings the best coffee chains to shame. I didn't expect a small family-run café to provide a fine breakfast meal. The big chains that think they serve the best breakfast must visit and learn here. Thanks owners!
I go for there several times with my fiends. Staffs there are very friendly, giving me the pumpkin cake as a snack, and the Chinese food was excellent, they'll also give a sample before order if you want.
Ah, the sandwich tree! I'll easily acknowledge that Nostalgie brought me here. I haven't been in one of these restaurants since about 1994. At the time, they could usually be found in shopping malls or in office places, which, if you think about it, is really...smart strategy – to catch lunch. I remember the patronage in Chilliwack, Surrey, Burnaby, Delta and Vancouver. The Sandwich Tree was practically everywhere. Then they began to disappear slowly over time. I remember visiting the Cottonwood Mall in the early 2000s and was somehow surprised to see that Sandwich Tree has been replaced by another generic sandwich shop (Hello Sandwich). In the middle of the 2000s, Sandwich tree seems to have everything but disappeared. In 2013 I searched the information SuperHighway. I don't remember what I was looking for, but I could somehow stumble over the official Sandwich Tree website. It contained no information at all, less the company logo, “since 1978”, and an email address for “Tony C” (whoever that is). I sent a message to the mysterious Tony and asked for Sandwich Tree sites.. everything I came back was basically a note that said, "They are around." All right. A Google search some time later returned some places in Burnaby, Delta and Richmond. Finally, the two locations in Burnaby have closed, as in Delta. All that remained, as far as I knew, was Richmond. Well, long story short, I finally made it to the Richmond Sandwich Tree a few weeks ago, and it seems that I did that right now. This place seems to be in the middle of a transition. The awnings were stripped by the letter “Sandwich Tree Grill”, but the name “Sandwich Tree” is still cleaned on the entrance, and marketing materials (especially catering) also tout Sandwich Tree. I suspect that if I visited again, the changeover in branding would be completed. Fortunately, the menu, like this letter, has not changed yet. A short comment on the interior: In one word, it is quite sparse, although some are due to the physical distancing requirements of the pandemic. The light brown walls, with the basic table settings, give the impression of a college style cafeteria. Not that this is really important, because most of those who come here do this only for a quick lunch instead of socializing. After searching for the simple yet appealing menu, I settled on a Ham Swiss Sandwich (the PookyCake classic) with Fritten. I have to say, as far as sandwiches go, that was pretty good. The bread was fresh and soft; the cucumbers, salad and tomatoes were bright and alive; and the ratio of meat to cheese was up. In addition, I noticed that the Mayo was only used sparingly and therefore did not overdo everything else in the sandwich. The accompanying friars were plentiful and beautifully spiced. FOOD: 4/5 SERVICE: 4/5 VALUE: 4/5 RECOMMENDATION: As soon as the transition to a new name is completed, I will probably spell the end of Sandwich Tree. It is a shame that this brand will go the way of Dodo after 40 years. Her logo was distinctive, funny and welcoming. Oh, good. If the food retains its same quality under the new brand, this place remains a nice lunch option for those who work in general area. Recommended! There are not many places to everyone around this area so it is either sandwich or bread garden. Both are bad for various reasons. BG is just plan old horrors. Nothing surprising. All their foods taste like Ikea furniture. But Sandwich Tree has real potential. All their meals are made by real people in their backs. Then why is it that all their meals taste terrible? I go back every six months or hope to get a dish that doesn't make me feel sick and eventually abandoned, but every time it's the same. How hard is it to stir fried rice? Even I can do that without it tasting like dog food. Please put some quality in the kitchen. You have a captured audience and I know you can do better.
Here with a few employees, the part was satisfied and was worth every cent It was very affordable. The Philly cheese steak is great!
