Although the menu isn't extensive, it effectively transports you through a delightful dining experience. We tried the chicken nachos, octopus tostadas, and Siam salad accompanied by a perfectly cooked burger that oozed juices when sliced. We also enjoyed a cod sandwich paired with fantastic fries, and we couldn't resist finishing with a coconut cream pie. The dishes offered a wonderful mix of texture and flavor. Everything was exceptional, and the staff clearly knows what they're doing. I could easily have spent the entire meal enjoying appetizers alone and left completely satisfied. The seating is cozy, which encourages friendly conversations with neighbors, adding a lovely sense of community that is so needed in today's world. Plus, it was fun to see what others were ordering; I found myself eyeing all the food coming out of the kitchen, wishing to try everything. To top it off, I even spotted one of the owners of Lucy’s restaurant (another favorite of ours) waiting to be seated as we left. It’s definitely worth the visit, whether you're coming from across the river or the far west end. It's exciting to witness our local restaurant scene flourishing as Richmond becomes an increasingly vibrant foodie destination. I will certainly return!
Four of us arrived and were told there would be an hour wait, but the time passed quickly, and we were seated sooner than expected. The food was creatively delicious with generous portions, and the prices were very reasonable. I would rate the food and atmosphere a solid 5. All the staff we interacted with were friendly, however, I would give our server a rating between 3.5 and 4. She seemed a bit distant, which my guests also noticed. It’s possible she was just overwhelmed with the busy restaurant. Overall, my experience was a 5! I will definitely be back because the food was fantastic, and the staff, in general, was very welcoming!
The atmosphere was fantastic, and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. I had dinner with a group of four, and each of us chose a different dish; nobody was disappointed with our selections. The service was excellent, too. It's a small, bustling restaurant, so be ready for a possible wait, but that's just a testament to how good it is. Grab a drink and relax on the patio while you wait. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and plan to return myself!
Best restaurant in the area for sure. Cozy, warm atmosphere with amazing food. Nickel burger is the best burger I've ever had, perfectly cooked and just a wonderful mix of spicy and sweet and savory. Lumpia is an absolute must. By my reckoning, this is a place you cannot afford to miss.
Updated: Even Though the power went out, Little Nickel was a great experience. The bar is beautiful and the bartenders seemed friendly, the cocktail i got had a banana shaped into a dolphin with a a maraschino in its mouth, it was pretty tasty, esthetically pleasing. overall, check this place out, its worth it.
