Blades Grill - Rochester

I experienced the diner side last week, and had a great breakfast. Was looking for a different place to dine with the family. The ambiance is inviting and warm. Beautiful space and expansive bar. Was greeted and seated quickly. Our waitress was pleasant. She knew the menu well and answered our questions. I ordered the the fish fry and rice pilaf. My husband had the burger topped with mac and cheese. Our daughter had the rigatoni bolognese. My fish fry was pretty good. Hot and crispy. Could have used a little more flavor but was enjoyable. The rice pilaf was horrible. Tastes rancid. Zero flavor. The bolegnese was okay. The sauce tasted overcooked. No robust flavor to it My husband thoroughly enjoyed his hamburger. Well cooked with good flavor. The mac cheese was excellent, recommended by the waitress. She mentioned it was made in house. I’d try visiting again. It has potential, perhaps I didn’t order the right thing.

Food was exceptional. Not crazy about the seating which is like primarily diner booths.

Looked for a new place to try for a date night. We enjoyed the food but it wasn’t outstanding. The prime rib was good and my wife had the chicken French that she liked. The service was very slow. We took a ride share there to enjoy a few drinks at dinner without worry. My drink was empty majority of my dinner. Had water to drink thankfully. My wife was only able to have one drink. When we left we both decided that we most likely will not be returning.

Took an hour to get our food after telling them we had somewhere to be. Very disappointing. Waitress did everything she could but no one apologized or took accountability

We have been patrons of Pomodoro's (now Blades) for about 10+ years. This time, the food was not up to the old standards, not even close. My wife ordered a Caesars salad with grilled chicken strips. There were no chicken strips...just 5 small cubes buried in the salad. In the past, there were 6 large strips. The chicken strips are an extra charge. I ordered the prime rib special and it came out cold and it sat in a puddle of au jus, not a small cup on the side. The au jus was also cold and splashed around every time I cut a piece sloppy to eat and unappetizing. This place has lost a step or three...
