One of the weirdest and rudest experiences I?ve ever had at a restaurant. After telling the employee what type of burrito I wanted, they immediately started to wrap it. I told them I wanted extras inside the burrito but they told me it was too late because they had already wrapped it and couldn?t undo it. So they put my toppings on top of the burrito and I had to awkwardly pull my burrito apart and scrape the toppings inside. Really made it nice since I am in the middle of a long road trip and had to eat a sticky burrito on the go.
So my family and I have traveled from Tennessee to Las Vegas and came back through Wyoming and i always look for smaller chain restaurants to try out when we are traveling. We spent the night in Rock Springs, Wyoming and I found Cafe Rio and decides we would check them out. There were 7 of us and our bill was 130.00, which is fine with me, the food was great. However, while the girl was taking my money, the girl who fixed most of our orders came up and spoke something in Spanish and the clerk answered her back and the other girl looked at me and rolled her eyes. There's where I have a problem. I asked the clerk what she said and why she rolled her eyes, she tried to play it off and be nice and made up some bogus story but I know it was a lie! If you didn't want my family's business, you should have said so when we came in and we would've went elsewhere. I would've loved to have given them a 5 star review because the food was amazing, but when you speak about a customer in front of them and roll your eyes...I have to give you 3 stars!
There's a lot to love about Cafe Rio. Their sweet pork salad can be one of my favorite meals. Unfortunately, this Cafe Rio (like many others) seems to insist on giving you a soggy salad. I just don't understand why they can't figure out a way to dry the lettuce. Maybe that requires too forethought.
Arrived 8:30 tonight, looked over at the horchata machine right when we walked in. Plenty in it. As a result, three of us ordered a drink. By the time I paid and got to the machine, it had been emptied by the employee who was likely assigned to break down the machinery for the evening. She chose to do so 90 minutes before close while customers were still coming in. The horchata was the ONLY reason we bought three drinks, otherwise water would?ve been just fine. It didn?t help matters that the ice machine was out of ice as well. Food was the expected Cafe Rio quality, but due to the early closure/breakdown of product (which i would deem to be a specific location issue with direction from management or apathetic-to-the-customer employees), I will not be coming back to this location. EDIT: the drink station disassembly was brought up with another review two months ago... seems that management doesn?t REALLY want to improve the experience of their customers. ?????
