The service was so slow that we were starving when we finally got our... records. But the quality of the same dishes we remember were the greatest disappointment. At first glance it looked similar, but as they say, the devil is in the details. The supplement of the baked beans was generous, but so tasteless it was a base of 4.50. The hash brawn was so blond and cruel inside that they should change the name on the menu. The usual portion of eggs is 2 per plate, but here they serve only one and not a very good quality or size. As already said, we waited very long for our breakfast and when we ordered more drinks after dinner, we were informed by our waitress, they have bookings for lunch, so they soon need our table. Needles to say our special day was no longer so special and we will not consider this place for future celebrations. Very disappointing. You will find many more places with better food and faster service in Adelaide.
I don't mind paying a little more for gourmet food, but I was shocked to be charged $25 for a poached egg, three small slices of smoked trout, a piece of rye toast instead of what was listed on the menu, and a small cup of hollandaise sauce. I did the math and realized that the ingredients couldn't have cost more than a few dollars. It would have been nice to have a little more food for the price. Unfortunately, we left the restaurant feeling hungry and disappointed, and the view of South Australia's iconic winery was not as great as we had hoped. On the bright side, my daughter enjoyed the Ricotta pancakes she ordered for $22, which were both delicious and a generous portion.
I don't know why an upscale restaurant is equipped with plastic stools for its guests. It pampered the experience because we were all so uncomfortable.
Food was nice, but nothing special. The dining room chairs were really unpleasant. We were a group of six and all commented. Maybe they don't want guests to stay? I would have returned, but my back broke for most of the time I sat at the table. Could have been so much better, given the beautiful view.
We attended the ‘Donna Chang’ degustation today and it was amazing. Our waiter Mel and the very informative sommelier were simply outstanding with their service. And the food wow! Thanks MEK for a wonderful birthday lunch. We’ll be back.
