How do you run a wonderful, fully Portuguesey, place out where you can only see about ten homes? The atmosphere can be noisy but truly enchanting. The answer is many a thing, but good food is a big part. You will need to reserve, especially on Sundays where the pig on a spit is served. The salads are fresh and with it will be your appetizer of fresh bread and butter, olives, pate, cheese, Delicous fries, dessert, a lot of wine!! Then a Gallae, (Coffee) or tea. Finishing with a shot of almond liqueur, or port, or sometimes Medronho (a legal local moonshine). Spoken English can be a bit scarce so when in doubt ask for Patrica, the girls are busy so be patient and count on at least a couple of hours for this experience. The large pig on the spit happens on every third Sunday at this time of the year and a variety on other dates can be had including suckling pig etc., etc. By the way, on going out the lane way turn left for a beautiful drive over a Barragem, eventually coming back out on the road you came in on. Be smart book a few days early and try an early sitting for your lunch. Oh and do not eat too much before hand.
This was our 3rd visit. Its a very good value restaurant serving quality Portuguese food at a very good price. The journey to Vale Fuzeiros is through some lovely scenery the Manager Ester will explain the menu and the service and staff are top class and very friendly. We are looking forward to our next visit. If you are planning to go there on Sunday please think about getting there about 12.30 as thats their busiest day. We were there on Monday April 18th 2016. If you have time try to visit the local Tropical Park which will be open in June 2016
Visited this with 5 friends at lunchtime and couldn’t believe the value for money. Good choice and very tasty food I chose the suckling pig served with chips rice and salad followed by profiteroles and coffee. Wine beer or soft drink included for €10 each. It was so good we returned 10 days later and had a Turkey casserole with fresh fruit salad to follow. We we will certainly return next time we are in the Algarve
From outside, it seems just a cafe and we passed a lot of times. Some friens took me there for lunch and ... the quality of food was surprising good. For the days dish was a choise between rice with seafood and rabbit hunters style. Both of them were delicious. For the rice with seafood, it was not like the packages you find in supermarket. This was quality. The rabbit was tender with a lovely sauce. The house wine is a good one and you can order more for the same price. All in, we payd 8 €/person? It is one of the few restaurants that didn 't raise their prices yet. Cannot wait to go back again.
