Moonstone Asian Cuisine - S San Diego

I don't usually leave reviews, but I wanted to help others avoid the same mistake we made. The food was quite disappointing, especially given the price. We ordered takeout that included beef and vegetables, tofu and vegetables, and chicken hibachi. While the meat and tofu in all the dishes were well-cooked, the vegetables in the beef dish were undercooked. The tofu dish wasn’t labeled as spicy on the menu, so I was really let down when it arrived with jalapeño peppers and a spicy mushroom sauce. The chicken hibachi was just average. The fried rice seemed to be more in line with hibachi style than typical Chinese takeout, but it lacked flavor. We chose this restaurant because my favorite spot was temporarily closed. As someone who loves Asian cuisine and isn't afraid to try new things, I genuinely wanted to enjoy the meal. Overall, I would suggest exploring one of the many other Asian restaurants in town instead.

Absolutely amazing! We ordered the pork dumplings, pork belly with garlic sauce, a tuna roll, a spicy salmon roll, and a Godzilla roll. Every dish was delicious! The only downside was the lack of music or background noise, which made it feel oddly quiet.

The new renovation is incredible! The food is outstanding as well—my wife and I both agree it's the best sushi we've ever tasted. I highly recommend it for a lovely date night!

My experience at this restaurant was terrible—both the food and the service were disappointing! My dish had a taste reminiscent of antibacterial cleaner. When I mentioned to our waitress that my meal was inedible, she apologized but insisted that I couldn’t return it for something else. There was no discount offered on my bill. My daughter also had sushi that wasn’t good, and another member of our group never received his meal. After waiting 35 minutes, we decided it wasn’t worth it to wait any longer. There was only one other table occupied with four people, so there’s really no excuse for the slow service. The staff didn’t apologize for the poor food or service either. I definitely won’t be returning!

The recent remodel looks fantastic! The food is outstanding as well; my wife and I both agree that it's the best sushi we've ever had. I absolutely recommend it for a lovely date night!
