Contribuer aux commentairesThe food was terrible, it tasted old and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know. Avoid this place and go somewhere else for a better meal.
The individuals who have criticized this restaurant are clearly very selective. The Chinese food here was delicious and reasonably priced. The vegetables and chicken were fresh and full of flavor, the General Tso's chicken was tasty, the rice was flavorful, and the egg rolls and wontons were fresh and well-prepared. Despite a large takeout order, the waitress noticed us waiting patiently and kindly brought us complimentary egg rolls. It speaks volumes when even the city police dine at this establishment - we noticed one seated nearby. We will definitely be returning!
My wife and I were driving leisurely on a Saturday when we started to feel a bit hungry. We saw China Garden on our GPS and decided to give it a shot. The restaurant is housed in an old building with Formica tables, located right by the Rochleau River offering a nice view of the boat traffic. The waitress spoke decent English, so we had no trouble communicating. The menu was mostly in English with some French. We ordered wonton soup, egg rolls, shrimp with lobster sauce, and pineapple chicken. The soup was alright and the egg rolls were tasty. The pineapple chicken did not have any pineapple flavor, but plenty of small breaded chicken pieces in a sauce that was tasty despite containing ground beef, which was unexpected. The shrimp were good, large, and tender. The prices were reasonable.
Food was good but not too exciting. Decor could use an upgrade. Service was quick, but there wasn't that many tables. Not bad overall but not great either.
The food here is really basic, bland and gooey. There is a lot of food for the price, but the quality is not there. The server was nice, but very French, not an anglo friendly spot. The atmosphere is stuffy. The crowd is on the older side and the decor is a mix of very old furniture and fittings.
