We were met by the host who was very rude and short with us and told us to come back in 30-45 mins. As we waited outside we saw several parties some smaller and larger than ours (none that looked like us) get seated quickly. We return back to the restaurant about 10 minutes later and the host was still rude but quickly sat us. Our server was DeeDee who seemed pleasant until my sister ordered the Lobster Pie and promptly told my sister the price in such a condescending tone; as if my sister couldn 't afford it or she couldn 't read (the price was on the menu). Due to our treatment from the beginning to the end, we asked to speak with the manager. An older gentleman came to our table and described himself as the manager Richie 's boss but wouldn 't give us his name. We shared our experience with him and it was clear he did not care. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone, let alone a person of color. I haven 't experienced this type of discrimination in a really long time and that totally took away from the food and frankly ruined our evening.
Fantastic, fresh seafood and upstanding service. Their crab cakes were excellent and our family really enjoyed our meal. After being turned down from every restaurant on halloween weekend, Turners welcomed us in. Thank you!!
My sisters (3 of us) and I patroned this restaurant for the first time. We are from out of town and saw the great reviews, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, the gentleman at the hostess table seemed short and rude, while telling us there would be a 30-45 minute wait. We decided to wait outside and within a few minutes we saw several other walk-ins seated before us. We then decided to ask and were seated right away. Once seated, our waitress, Deedee, seemed very nice until I placed my order (the lobster pie) and she very condescendingly told me the price (as if I couldn 't read the price on the menu). After our dinner we asked to speak to the manager and the man that came over said he was the manager Rich 's boss . We explained how uncomfortable and off-putting both situations were and he brushed us off. We were very offended and left in disbelief of the poor customer service. The food was delicious, but unfortunately overshadowed by the prejudice staff. We would never return or recommend anyone of color eat here.
I was in Boston visiting from the west coast and of course needed to try the seafood and clam chowder! Turner's was a great choice! The restaurant has a cozy vibe and the whole menu looked good! Many restaurants in the area ask if you've made reservations so It's probably a good idea to make those on the weekend. However, I was still seated quickly without reservations. I went for a late lunch and tried the clam chowder, risotto lobster cake, and Mac n cheese. It was chilly outside and these were a delicious and satisfying way to warm up!
When I knew we would be visiting Salem on our honeymoon I started looking into local restaurants. Made our reservation early as it would be busy season. So glad we did this; there was a line of people waiting outside for a table when we arrived. The server had great enthusiastic energy which made us even more excited to be there. He also made note of our honeymoon celebration and engaged in conversation with us about our trip so far. He was helpful when we asked him questions about the menu and suggested some items which were ordered. He also shared some haunted history with us which is perfect for a pre-Halloween dinner in Salem! For appetizers we ordered lobster bisque and mussels. The lobster was designated as being award winning. We found the bisque somewhat disappointing. We only found a few bits of lobster in the chowder. The flavor was great but needed more lobster. The mussels were exceptional and fresh. Simmered in a savory butter lemon sauce and served with bread for dipping. We could not get enough of this item. Luckily for us the app included about 2 dozen mussels. We both picked the same entree, the seafood medley. You get haddock, shrimp, and scallops. You can choose to have them fried or broiled. We went with broiled and topped with breadcrumbs, at the suggestion of our server. I picked asparagus and mashed potatoes for my sides. All of the food was melt in your mouth delicious. The shrimp and scallops were massive. Cooked perfectly and some of the best seafood I have ever tried. For dessert we were given the choice of a complimentary item to celebrate our honeymoon. We were so full but went with the pumpkin cheesecake. Perfect flavors for the season! I will dream of the day I can visit again. Such a treat!
