City Cakes Cafe - Salt Lake City

Called the store for a cake, was told my options that were available that day. I picked a vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. Asked for a birthday message to be put on the cake. Paid over the phone. When I arrived to pick up the cake, it was a marble cake with chocolate frosting. Birthday message was already written on the wrong cake so I went ahead and took that cake. Don't get me wrong, the cake was yummy BUT it's not what I asked/paid for.

I had ordered a smash cake and some cup cakes. I ordered over the phone and even had a nice conversation about the theme and she knew the monster truck I was doing the party for. I had asked for blue frosting on the cup cakes and got brown. I asked for a ramp on the smash cake for the monster truck and it was flat. So that was pretty disappointing. And then the vanilla cupcake tasted like corn bread. The chocolate cake was also pretty grainy. I just wasn’t super impressed with how it all went.

Bought a premade chocolate cake. It was tasty, flavorful and well made. Highly recommend this place for their cakes.

I have been a supporter of City Cales from day one, but the last few times I have tried to go they have closed early. Due to where I work and my schedule I can’t get there until 7:45 pm on the weekend. Tonight 8/26 was it the last draw for me. After driving 20 mins I get there and see the workers closing up the register with the light off and door locked.
