Saúl Bistro - San Jose

Whimsical with great food So glad I went there for dinner during my San Jose trip. The decor is funky/fresh and the food was wonderful. I got the salmon and two desserts and shared pizza as an appetizer. The atmosphere was so fun. The service was a little slow, but I feel that’s a result of the general “Pura Vida” attitude in Costa Rica. Will definitely be back!

The service by Javier is remarkable. The restaurant has a good atmosphere with a very varied menu of drinks and food.

Had great service and food with a large group. Everyone food and drinks where satisfactory . Steaks where done correctly

We went here for dinner and had a delicious meal. My husband got the margarita pizza and I had their take on a croque Monsieur sandwich. Our friends had pasta and a salad. The sangria was also amazing. Definitely would recommend as a date spot of a night out with friends

Complete horrible experience! I am a woman and went to Saúl with my girlfriend for our anniversary. We were not kissing, we were holding hands, and a waiter came up to us to tell us “no love scenes were allowed”. The irony of it all is that we were surrounded by straight couples that were definitely showing more affection than us. I did not appreciate this sort of treatment AT ALL. It was extremely homophobic towards me and my girlfriend and I cannot believe this happened in Escalante, where there’s a large population of LGBTQ+ members. If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community or support it in any way, do NOT go to this place. I have never experienced something like this in my life.
