I ordered it for the first time in forever yesterday and got some shrimp teriyaki and it tasted greasy, like the oil wasn't hot enough. Well, maybe that's on me I did order it around 11:30 am. Today I ordered ramen, figured they can't mess that up and I was really in the mood. The broth tastes rancid. Like it went bad from them leaving it out for a week. It was inedible. I can't even eat it and I wouldn't even feed it to a dog. Waste of money. I won't be ordering from here anymore.
Too much udon noodles and not enough broth. Broth came in a small container that tempura sauces typically come in. Not even a full cup (i measured). It was a little over half a cup. Unacceptable.
Marugame is always a fun treat! My family and I prefer coming to the San Ramon location as opposed to the one in Berkeley. There's plenty of shops around and a convenient parking garage. There's plenty of choices to choose from including add ons. My sister and I ordered a large Nikutama (delicious sweet beef and shared it. There's some to go utensils by the soda fountain, where customers can grab containers, utensils, sauces, etc. We just used one of the to go containers as a bowl when we shared. This is perfect if you have little ones as well. The ordering system is somewhat like a cafeteria style. You order your noodles at one counter, then they hand you your food. Then, you slide down your tray to the tempura station (about $2.25 each expensive! . You pick your tempura and then pay at the final counter. There's lots of seating to choose from including outdoor seating. If you have any dogs, there's plenty of outdoor seating. This location has always had great service, nice open space, and clean amenities.
Very average udon for the price i really don't understand the hype the noodles are not cooked al dente and the broth is very simple, you can recreate the entire meal at home for a fraction of the price
Service and the line move fast Udon texture is chewy and not too thick just right. Portion side is skinny but can make it up with the choice of tempura sides that are freshly fried , food is good and fresh, the broth is a bit overpowering but is still good it The only down side is the place is busy and not enough staff to clean the table for the next customers
